I understand this may be pretty irrelevant now, but...

Excellent result for us last night.

Vale have only picked up 3 points on the road in their 7 away games in 2017.

Of their final 9 games they have 5 away from home and their 4 home games include very tough games against Sheff U and Bolton.

With that in mind I see 8 points being a good haul for them between now and the end of the season. As you will know we sit 8 points above them with a far superior goal difference.

Therefore the pressure is well and truly off us now - even a terrible end to the season with us picking up a couple of draws should be enough to ensure safety.

Now lets go and beat Oxford (as we usually do) and put it well and truly to bed!

The adverts on one of the local radio stations down here trying to drum up ticket sales still say "be our twelfth man as we aim for the championship"  Huh?  Grin

That's a good radio you've got, picking up Radio Sheffield in Swindon  Grin

I suppose you could say that our goal difference is worth a point at the moment but that could change before the end of the season

I think we can say that Coventry (despite two wins in a week) and Chesterfield are both gone. Their goal difference counts against them both so they are 11 and 12 points respectively away from safety already.
Swindon, with a win over Millwall have given themselves a chance.

Heres whats coming up in the next 10 days or so......

28/03/17    Oxford United  v  Bury
01/04/17    Bolton Wanderers  v Chesterfield
                Fleetwood Town  v  Swindon Town
                MK Dons  v  Gillingham
                Posh  v  Charlton Athletic
                Port Vale v  Wimbledon
                Rochdale  v  Northampton
                Southend  v  Oldham
04/04/17    Charlton  v  MK Dons
                Rochdale  v  Port Vale
                Shrewsbury  v  Millwall
05/04/17    Sheffield United  v Coventry City

That's probably not the worst 'investment' in the world at 200/1. It could be argued that we might only take 3 points from the last 5 games and we could end up 4th from bottom with 53 points.

Ooops, forgot Gills at home so 6 more games not 5. 3 more points is a tad pessimistic, but I don't think we've been playing that well to be honest. 200/1 come on! 50/1 is more realistic.

Whilst we might not be playing thrill a minute football we are looking much more organised and are managing games better, I'd be surprised if we only managed 3 points from the last 6 matches.

Just had a quick look at the last 20 or so league one final tables.  Nobody has gone down on 52 points, in fact 51 has on all but 3 occasions been enough and even then for two of them it came to goal difference.

In fact in a lot of cases sides would have stayed up with anything in the high forties, 48 or 49.

Based on that and the fixtures remaining for some of the sides in trouble I think we've done enough already though clearly another win or a couple of draws would certainly be enough.

Finally I agree with the previous post.  It hasnt been pretty but we are clearly competing in all fixtures now even against the better sides.

Yea, probably competing about as well as we were in the first half of the season.
