Top half at least. We only really lost Wilds, Holmes and Adams.

Yeah no one important. Adams & Holmes who have both won player of the year at their new clubs

Considering that a couple of days ago, it looked like we'd maybe finish 20th, making us a no-go area for any decent signings. 16th is an easier sell, you might say only slightly, and you'd be right - but it may prove to be very significant.
At our level I really doubt that a player looks too much at the finishing position the previous season, more at the cash and location.  If 2 clubs offer the same then it might come into play.

Think we should start keeping an eye on this now...

Rotherham, Shrewsbury down there in the mix with us, even with yesterday's results I reckon

Speaking with my Oldham friend it sounds like they were as bad as us yesterday.

Really looking forward (not) to bringing him down on the last day

There seem to be a number of particularly poor teams in the league this season.

Ourselves aside, Oldham and Gillingham have started the season remarkably poorly. With Oldham yet to pick up a single point from five games. Gillingham also seem likely to struggle and are winless so far this season. Plus there are teams like AFC Wimbledon and Rochdale operating on relatively small budgets who have also made an unconvincing start to the campaign.

Considering the (perceived) quality of the players in our squad, even a reasonable managerial appointment should see us recover to a comfortable lower mid table position this season.

Following their signing of Zakuani, I had a bit of a read of Gillinghams fansites prior to the season starting. They were waxing lyrical about all the fabulous players they had signed and how it was job done on the recruitment front. The way they were going on you'd have thought they were the PSG of division 1. This was before we had signed hardly anyone. Just shows you that the players really are only half the story. Hopefully the new bloke (or for the benefit of the barmy PC brigade, girl) can turn us into a decent unit. That's a point, hang about a week and Adrian Pennock could be our man?

We've played 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7th in the League, which suggests that we have perhaps been a bit unlucky with the run of fixtures so far.

And given them all 3 points which is why they are there. I hate this meaningless argument after so few games.

Not entirely true... though some notable exceptions if you look at the league 1 table from 10th September 2016;

Yeah, but half the reason they're 1st, 2nd...is because they've played us!  Wink
