I actually think the opposite. If/when we go down, I think we are well equipped to bounce straight back for once.
That depends given that we have 6 loans who will all return to their parent clubs (admittedly some will be missed more than others) and I can't see the likes of crooks and Taylor to just name 2 to be content to play in league 2.

If we were to be relegated we would see a bucket rattling financial meltdown, a dozen playing staff come and go, a completely new management team and possibly new owners so how you can assume we would be in a good position to bounce back is heavy speculation. Our current infrastructure dictates it would take several years to achieve promotion again and 12 to 24 months to be relegated again... Hope that helps.😉

Another 4 wins and a couple of draws should do it. Five wins and happy days. As we found out last season we don't need to worry about other teams just ourselves. Get to a certain amount of points and we won't be caught. There again maybe Jimmy wants to do it a point a game then we only get to 49 points, that could be a bit close for comfort.

No, I believe that's just what you would like to see to further your own agenda.

Mine is perhaps speculation. Yours is pie in the sky.

No Frank, its just whats happened every other time in the last 50 years and nothing this club has done will make it any different this time. Our only hope to avoid this doomsday senario is to back JFH and his team to somehow avoid relegation and go again next season...and avoid relegation again.

Our only hope ? Doomsday? Somehow avoid? ? Come on, are you on a wind up? If so fair play because you have got me with this

Our only hope ? Doomsday? Somehow avoid? ? Come on, are you on a wind up? If so fair play because you have got me with this It appears you have all but given up hope of survival? I doubt very much there will be a managerial change this late in the campaign so our only alternative is to back the man and his team to scrape the points needed. Relegation would be a disaster and set us back years. Also the calibre of teams in league 1 next season will see many near or capacity crowds at Sixfields. Relegation playing our old basement dwelling freinds like Morecambe Rochdale Bury Crawley etc, wont have the same excitement level in a half empty ground. JFH has an experienced backroom staff and many other outside contacts and Im sure he's well aware of his recent negative team selections but fortunately we are still in with a fighting chance and very capable personnel to call on to get this right, as Gloria gaynor once sang ..As long as we've got JFH I know that we'll survive..So relegation, walk out that door, don't turn around now as you're not wanted anymore...

Well I for one don't see why not... In our last 10 matches (since 1st Jan) we've won 4, drew 3, lost 3. That's upper mid table form (9th to be precise).

No. I think it will be five.

Probably win 3 and draw a few. Hopefully others teams around us will crash and burn. Games against Bury, Fleetwood and Oldham are huge.

For goodness sake Doc we are NOT going down you heard it here 1st (I damn well hope that does not come back to haunt me)

I'm feeling less positive after yesterday. I feel we need Van Veen fit asap. Teams around us still have at least one game in hand. It's going to the wire. Relegation would be a hammer blow, it really would.

I echo that - hoping for a positive injury bulletin on van veen but the fact that he went for a scan last week and we haven't heard how it went is a bit ominous. Also any kind of bulletin on Poole would be nice - if he's been frozen out he might as well go back to Man U.

4 wins and three draws from our last 11 games and 4 wins and 4 draws from our 11 league games before that. Not sure how relevant or reliable that fact will be, but suggests this is going to be tight but we’ll make it? Whilst I find Beds rhetoric about his new stadium “The Theatre of Nonsense” a bit tiresome, his assessment regarding relegation highlights a major concern for me. It is rare that relegated sides bounce straight back irrespective of finances. Indeed sometimes, for some reason it almost seems that the bigger the resource the harder it becomes? Still it’s not going to come to that, so all good.

One hugely relevant game for us tonight, as Wimbledon play at home to Blackburn.
If they lose they will be level on points with us having played the same number of games (although their goal difference is significantly better)

Poor goal difference
Relegation rivals with games in hand
I can't see where the remaining 12/13 points are coming from. And maybe even more are required.
Despite the influx of January signings, there are still many problems and i think it'll come down to the final game

Latest Chron article says Van Veen is "Very Unlikely" to be involved this weekend, still on his own recovery programme although ahead of schedule. Also says other than Pierre and Phillips, everyone is healthy so Poole not being involved is a strange one for me.
