If we play like we did tonight with that formation and tempo (and we must), we will give every one of our last eight opponents a game and we will win matches before the end of the season. I hope, but I'm not sure it'll be enough.

We can but hope.....we've used a game but not made any progress. We were bottom 4 and level on points before tonight, now we're bottom 4 and level on points with a game fewer to get out of that four. And everyone now has at least a game in hand.

Yep, despite a positive performance and absorbing game and grabbing a point against the second placed team, our survival hopes look slimmer maybe?! Everyone else with games in hand and our goal difference really makes the table uncomfortable reading. Saturday at Fleetwood really feels like a must-win.

Must not lose on Saturday, I would say.
Ten points from last eight games I believe (hope) will be enough. So (just) three wins and a draw
Both Oldham and Rochdale have fixture backlogs. Could work for them if they get momentum, but also against them if start losing and pressure starts to mount.

Biggest thing for us is to take points off those around us when we can.

We have got to play 5 of the bottom 10 teams in our last 8 games, it is entirely in our own hands. If we play like we did last night and show that level of commitment and fight there is no reason why we can't stay up.

I can’t see us getting four wins from eight . John joe now being out doesn’t help that cause although I have every faith in McWilliams . He is not a goal threat though . We are playing some of the bottom teams in the run in but those teams are in form and we are not . We played well last night but still didn’t create many chances . This will be our downfall

We need wins!! A look at the table shows us as the only side in the bottom 12 without a win in the last 6 games. Improved performance definitely......sadly not the result it arguably warranted.

Better performance but just one point. JFH said on Saturday that he doesn't see John-Joe as a midfielder. Where did John-Joe play last night? JFH is constantly shooting in the dark, hoping to hit a moving target. Occasionally, he gets a win; more from luck than judgement.

We played well but a draw was a fair result . They created a lot more chances than us , mainly because our final delivery wasn’t great all night . We were lucky not to concede a penalty as well. We simply need to work the keeper more

And was playing well until he got sent off . Not sure why JFH said that about JJOT - it may have been mistenterpreted by us all .

Trying to work out where the four wins may come from...looking at Fleetwood, Bury and Oldham and then possibly Plymouth at home if we can match last night's showing.

The table looked so much better at half time last night. A draw in the other game was perfect.
Negatives - Rivals with games in hand, poor goal difference and us being out of form
Positives - A couple of teams have still got to play each other and a chance for us to take points off a few rivals.
Realistically we need to take 9 points from the next 7 (ideally wins vs Fleetwood, Walsall and Bury) and hope that's enough to keep us above MK Dons and Rochdale. Then hope that we're within 2 points of Oldham by the final game to give us a chance.
We have have 2 periods this season where we have hit a bit of form (November and January), we need another cluster like that otherwise it's curtains.
Personally I don't think we'll stay up but as long as there is a chance we can believe.

Hi Cobblerwatch, I think you are just more patience than beds and I.
there are hundreds of factors on and off the pitch that result in our status and league position, there is no simple answer or straight choices like some of the anti developement lot like to offer.
EVERYTHING has to pull in the same direction, everyone has to work together with a common goal. I am a big believer that this is what happened in the promotion year, we had to fight and work together. I was at the end of season dinner where KT spoke about unity, community and progressing forward, which was fantastic. However they have proved to be hollow and just sound bites.
Sorry in advance Roger and Fez but the Trust demonstrates this clearly. In the DC darkest days the Trust were absolutely amazing, working incredibly hard saving the club. They were direct and aggressive in their determination but since then they have reverted back to type issuing the odd politically correct statement etc.
We once again find ourselves battling relegation with owners who only want to develop the club through NBC handouts, owners that don't even live in the country let alone the town. Again we have gone through tens of different players, different managers with the same results.
IMHO it's because there is no ambition, no goals, no identity, no pride and no pressure to achieve anything. Behind the scenes there are no leaders, no one driving the club forward, demanding better standards, more attention to detail. The fans happy to accept no progress and no development
As I have said many times, if you stand still, you are going backwards.

Are you seriously suggesting the reason for our table position is down to off the field reasons and lack of ambition??? Are you for real ? The club hasn’t had so much investment in a long time . It’s purely and simply down to players and management . Nothing more and nothing less. Where do these people come from !!

Spot on! We bought some rubbish players we had a lot of players on the decline We have some good players who have not played well We have lacked players in certain positions at points through the season We have played players out of position Formations have been questionable at times. Some of the above linked to the manager either JED or JFH or both. I back JFH by the way.

The old me would have agreed with you 100% on this but I'm starting to think more deeply about the sustainability of success - in the many decades I have been following despite a couple of stella promotion seasons we have never stayed more than 2 seasons in the league above. Despite the never ending stadium debate we have attendances (or potential) better than most in L2 clubs and respectable in L1 - sure we have signed a "name" manager (we have done that before and it's never worked and looks unlikely this time), sure we have spent money in January but in the grand scheme of sustained investment this is more short term boom (actually not working ) and bust - sadly at the moment it's bust and bust! I'm still less cynical than some re the intentions of our owners and certainly don't agree it all gets resolved by a better hospitality, a few boxes and a couple of thousand extra seats - but the lack of this happening for such a protracted period (despite the obvious complications) does imply a certain malaise at the club. The lack of proper training facilities is another area - one that I think a far higher priority than the redevelopment wants. I certainly don't have the answer but I do know from a business perspective short term investment (which I believe we have had) does not guarantee success (in our case definitely not) but the only proven successful path is a longer term strategic view that provided sustainable success. It's an interesting thing - when I'm at an away game I'm considerably more proud of my club & it's dedicated fans than when I'm at Sixfields where the sterile atmosphere (not the number of seats) sadly conveys a message of treading water.

what investment? Desperation buying of players is not an investment but an necessity. And those bought other than facey have little to no sell on value. Facey will leave for an undisclosed £250,000 close season, should we get relegated because its how we do things since probably the 1977 relegation and why? Because no real investment being made in the clubs infrastructure which is whats needed to attract players that can realise real fees and not bargain basement players.
