Im trying to work out whether a 0-0 draw or a Dale win would be better for us.

A draw as it is now leaves us 4 points adrift of Oldham in 20th.
A Dale win would leave us 5 points adrift of Walsall in 20th as Rochdale would go 19th and Oldham down to 21st.
An Oldham win would leave us 5 points adrift of Walsall in 20th as Oldham would go 18th above AFC.

If Oxford lose their next two, or only draw one, then their last game against Blackburn will be quite a task.
Maybe they're going to join the party.

Doncaster (a)
Rochdale (h)
Blackburn (a)

Oxford Utd are more or less safe unfortunately...as I said weeks back, Walsall are the ones to catch!

Whilst in this area, 445 United fans at the DW tonight.

Poole Town losing tonight also means Oxford City are safe!  Wink

Come 5pm Saturday we値l know one way or another whether there is any hope remaining. The final place however will probably go down to the wire regardless. Could be about the best or worst fixture for Oldham!

Oxford only come into the equation if we win all 3 of our games.....and if we win all 3 we'll probably stay up anyway!!

A few people said Walsall may be the ones to slide.....3 of their last 4 away from home.....but in reality they only need to win 1.....that's the game against us!!

If we only draw on Saturday its not the end.....but we can't then catch Oxford (goal difference), and we can't catch BOTH Oldham and Wimbledon.....only one of them as they play each other on Saturday.

Look, I知 not for a second about to suggest we値l stay up. But there痴 a bit of belief growing. It must be the same for the players and coaching staff.

Imagine if we do get that win on Saturday, then beat Walsall...yeah! Imagine how crushing it値l be to lose the last game at home to Oldham 😂

All I know is that if it goes to the last game v Oldham then I am going to get absolutely hammered due to the late kick off.

The more you look at the table and then look at our form and ability , the harder it is to see us escape .
The crowd will get behind the side but we need a miracle .
I知 not convinced DA is convinced about Van Veen either having listened to his last interview , saying he hasn稚 heard from him .

There's still a chance we can stay up if we lose against Plymouth but we need two of the following three scenarios to happen (as well as us beating Walsall and Oldham):

- Walsall lose all their remaining games (Scunny A, Northampton H, Bradford A, Fleetwood A)
- Oldham pick up a maximum of 1 point from their remaining games (Wimbledon A, Southend H, Doncaster H, Northampton A)
- Rochdale pick up a maximum of 2 points from their remaining games ( Bradford H, Plymouth H, Oxford A, Charlton H)

If we draw with Plymouth then we need two of the following four scenarios to happen (as well as us beating Walsall and Oldham):

- Wimbledon lose all their remaining games (Oldham H, Wigan A, Doncaster A, Bury H)
- Walsall pick up a maximum of 1 point from their remaining games (not against us) (Scunny A, Northampton H, Bradford A, Fleetwood A)
- Oldham pick up a maximum of 2 points from their remaining games (not against us) (Wimbledon A, Southend H, Doncaster H, Northampton A)
- Rochdale pick up a maximum of 3 points from their remaining games ( Bradford H, Plymouth H, Oxford A, Charlton H)

A win against Plymouth and it's all to play for.

Thanks for that breakdown - it痴 really useful !
So really , we have to win all three games unless one of the others has a real wobble

Said it before but I really see no way out unless we win all three...it's too much to ask for everything else to go our way.

Encouraging results though and it's nice to see the games in hand being used up. I'm hoping for a Wimbledon win over Oldham and Walsall also losing to Scunny. We have to target those two rather than look at Wimbledon or Oxford, especially as we play them both. For now anyway!

I can't help but think we're all getting a bit over optimistic after just about beating the worst team in the league but I guess it is nice to have some hope, even for a while.

The below link on Experimental 361 is a good breakdown of what can still happen and the likelihood of each outcome, it really will be an astonishing escape if we pull this off.

https://experimental361.com/2018/04/17/whats-still-possible-17-april-2018

Note: This was done before last nights games, although I can't imagine it will have changed hugely
