I thought it was an poor game in atrocious conditions. In the good old days the pitch would have been a mudbath but although it looked ok last night there was so much standing water it was impossible to play anything approaching decent football. Smith’s shanked clearance when he slipped at the death summed it up for me.
I wonder how people would have judged the performances if we had the draw that seemed so likely with a few minutes to go.

If we had scored all 5 of our first half chances people on here would have judged it as one of the best performances of the season and JED as better that Wilder. With most football "fans" they judge the performance on the result. Just a fact of life.

OLdham definitely deserved the win, Would agree with the ratings. A totally gutless pereformance from both team and manager who should have made decisive changes much earler, This defeat could be crucial come the end of the season.

Completely agree but you omit that the crowd was also very quiet. We were hardly the 12th man; plenty of moans and very little encouragement. If we cant do better that that in an important relegation battle ...........................

I love it when after a defeat people compete with each other to slag off the team. I think you are winning so far.

I am guilty of that too - have not seen a positive write up from anybody after that defeat; not even '78 can muster a glimmer of hope. Even the Chron write up sounded more like an obituary!

Not true. We made twice as many clear chances as Oldham. Keep doing that for the rest of the season and all things being equal with regards luck and we will win more than we lose.

Boateng also making little effort to get back, seems like he could have covered the left back area if he had been concentrating, but was simply sleeping.

How about the left back covering the left back area? Call me outlandish if you like.

That doesn't detract from my point about Boateng. Look at the goal again, he looks like he had more or less stopped playing.

What's the point in tracking back to cover a counter attack if you don't have the awareness to cover an exposed area?

Only if we have forwards who can put the chances away. Smith's ratio of chances to goals is likely to be abysmal. JJOT, Rico and Anderson have missed quite a few

I saw the goal in real time thank you. Taylor miss controlled the ball and then put in a very nasty lunging challenge to get it back. The ball came through the middle of the park  then the outside left position. It was then crossed by a slipping OWLdum player eluding Zaquani, Smith and Nyatanga in to the position that our left back would normally be but wasn't. At no time could you blame the left midfielder.

Bit fanciful as his mistake(miss control) initiated the process which led to their goal.
