Just a little. BBC website are now reporting that he may stand down from the 2018 bid team. Standing down altogether might be the only option. Maybe they could use some of the money saved from his wages to pay for a proper groundsman at Wembley.

FA need to act quickly and sack him full stop.
Maybe being a Labour politician, foot in mouth is all part of the training.

Only a few months of campaigning left. Could be too late already. How stupid can he be? Not that an answer is needed to that question.

Well done Mail On Sunday for single-handedly destroying our chances of getting the world cup.

Well done Mail On Sunday for single-handedly destroying our chances of getting the world cup. I think Triesman has a part to play in this too.

It's a bit of a non story though isn't it? Something he said which could have been in jest or just a passing comment.
The Mail on Sunday hasn't acted in the national interest in this. I hope they will be happy with themselves if this does cost us the World cup and all those billions of pounds that would have been injected into our economy.

I've no doubt he was just giving it all the Johnny Big Bollox in the hope of getting his end away.
Should he have said it? No. Should a private conversation be taped and then reported in the press? Again, no.
It's a shame he got caught being a knob, 'cos as you quite rightly say PF, the World Cup would generate billions of pounds for the country.
Effin' idiots at the mail didn't have to report it though.

Its a shame, because with regards to the FA, Triesman was talking a pretty good game and looked quite good for the FA, now he's dropped a massive bollock

Yet again another bloddy fiasco.
I know journalists have a job to do & papers to sell but again & again they build someone up & when they deem so thay pull the rug from under them.
Reading Twitter this morning Dan Rohan, Mark Bright, Henry Winter & Jacqui Oatley are not happy & rightly so.
I feel for David Beckham who has done a lot of work as a leading figure with this campaign & the Olympics.
Like others have said above a long way off but what getting the World Cup could do to our economy could've been a godsend as I fear even now it's going to get a lot more worse befoe it gets better, we are certainly seeing the Bust partof the boom or bust times so many in marble halls have enjoyed while the likes of Joe Public put so much on hold just to survive.

Do you know what "Nemesis" means?

Have to play a bit of devil's advocate here so sorry.
If the Mail hadn't reported it, somebody else would have and at the end of the day, someone must have wanted him out for some reason or another to tape the convo and then sell the story. That person knew exactly what they were doing.

At least one other newspaper was offered the story and turned it down because unlike the Mail they could see the bigger picture. There really is no excusing what the Mail has done, all but ruining our best chance of hosting the world cup in 60-odd years just to make a quick buck from paper sales. There is no excusing it. I see Gary Lineker has given up his column in the Mail in protest...
