This is where it seemingly gets a little cliched. I was told billionaire, possibly Russian, who wanted to buy Reading at one point. Wants to buy Oxford out right including the stadium.
St Edmunds, I don't think we could come close to being anywhere near as attractive a proposition as the university City. He may have links with the University itself too. That's the lot, all I was told.
Hopefully it's all bollo and Kelvin continues to try to untangle legalities here and do something with that monstrosity over on the East side.
A Russian wants to buy Reading and Oxford .......... hang on we've been here before. You'd better have a word with him and advise against going on any holidays in his yacht - he may slip off and drown in the Med! He doesn't have any newspaper interests with outstanding pension liabilities does he?

If true, hopefully this doesn't take the East Stand redevelopment or the player contract negotiations back a few step.

Does Kassam still owns the ground. If he does agreeing terms with him will be a challenge. As for KT being potentially involved I have no idea but I can see the reason the rumour mill is at work connecting him. Although KT has not said anything publicly I would think he is frustrated with getting a decision from the incompetent NBC on his proposal for the East Stand and surrounding boundary issues.

If you look on the Oxford forum, it can clearly be seen and explained. Stuart Donald, Eastleigh's chairman, good friend of KT and helped us out to the tune of £50,000 I believe has been asked by Daryl Eales (OUFC chairman) to come on board so as to speak. No mention (when I last looked anyway) at all of KT or a Russian being involved, as hasn't been aired either in these parts!* * A short Rumours thread aside, that has only courted humoured responses!

Posted last week in Yellows Forum from Eastleigh's chairman, Stewart Donald. The 'Russian' rumour appears to be simply that, and afforded little consideration on the Ox side!
Zach - you may find it bizarre I am involved and find it unacceptable but you either don't fully understand the situation or have very little grasp of this type of business.
If a landlord sells a house to another investor does that investor consult the tenant before buying the property? The purchase based on the strength of the current lease and the basic asset. I buy numerous commercial properties from Hotels, Care Homes, Rented Office Blocks, private houses etc. I have never ever discussed the purchase of the asset with the tenants - I have been provided with a copy of the current lease/s by the owner, checked the financial strength of the tenants and then either chosen to buy or not. After the purchase you may talk to the tenant to negotiate new terms or introduce yourself but why would you do it in advance. It is an investment so your thought process is completely wrong!!!!!!!!!!! Having said that I have been in regular contact with Darryl and have spoken with him for 30 minutes today on this so he is in the loop as much as he can be without prejudicing positions and I am sure when the next stage is worth commenting on it will be communicated by oxvox.
I find it extremely disappointing you find my involvement unacceptable as I am only trying to help so let me set the scene from my perspective and you tell me what you would do if you were me.
1) OUFC/Darryl want to acquire the stadium or benefit from its operation but Firoz Kassam WONT sell to them or anyone other than a Supporters trust. 2) Council/Supporters trust come up with the basics of a plan - complicated but possible. Landlord accepts outline of a deal but the numbers don't work without friendly money and a business plan. 3) I am asked if I would consider helping as all 3 parties think I will add value and potentially provide friendly funds.
I am now sat there Zach seeing a football club which has progressed hugely with a frustrated owner who I am good friends with at a club I love, who cannot make any progress on the stadium and is so frustrated he cannot see a way the club can progress without it. The inference due to this is that expenditure may have to be cut and the club may have to review its options - which I interpret as a huge backward step where the best owner we have had may leave is something isn't done.
He has no power to do a deal and needs help, there is a potential deal on offer but no one wants to put up money on favourable enough terms but Oxvox know that the landlord would do a deal but it may be 1) Too expensive to make full financial sense and also the Landlord wants to protect the asset from abuse in future years.
I am then approached. From my point of view to push a deal through i need to part with a large sum of money to get a return far worse than I would get anywhere else in my business world, potentially overpay and then have the football club or its owner benefit by losing less money of my capital and good nature so everyone benefits but me! What a GREAT DEAL for me!!!! However despite owning another club, having plenty already on my plate and getting no benefit myself but being a fan I get involved and am considering making that commitment - for you to then say my involvement is unacceptable is very disheartening. I would be more than willing to stop if you have a better plan and save me a whole lot of time, effort and money.
Please also bear in mind I didn't ask to get involved I was asked. It was the same when DE asked me to get involved previously. I have only ever helped financially when asked I have never got involved in anything Darryl has not wanted me to, which I am sure he will confirm if you ask!!
To conclude - I am sorry you feel my involvement unacceptable but I am sure if you were asked to help the club by the fans, owner etc at any given point on any topic you would listen and try and help if you could? That is what being a fan is isn't it? Having never publicly done anything other than try and help DE etc it seems a bit harsh to be knocked for responding to a request for assistance.

Yes quite correct see " http://www.yellowsforum.co.uk/thread/25449/rumours". Not a mention of KT either. In fact there is slightly more on the Hotel End! Perhaps the source of the "rumour" could reveal how he came about it

Oh well, seems it's a rumour going nowhere. The source of the rumour is a very respectable one. Maybe it'll grow legs another time but I'm more than happy the status quo is maintained.
