Mixed gender football is not allowed under FA Rules beyond U11 so the girls should not be playing in the same matches as your lad.
that was what we had been led to believe too, but there are definately two girls that play in the u12A league, one team I think is Drayton Grange, can't remember the other one. Will ask my lad when he gets home from school.

The FA tried to up the age to U14 last year, but it did not attract enough votes to be voted through.

The woman who ran the line on our visit to Stevenage was fine. Her inability to see the ball had clearly crossed the line gets her my vote anytime.
We've has a couple of female refs for my sons team - Under 12s. One was useless and the other was very good. Sadly the one who was good has quit after receiveing abuse from parents at another game - Morons. Think it just boils down to the individual at the end of the day

No it's medical, however depending on which survey you read there are for and against arguments to both ideas. The problem is when girls hit the point when they are too slow or are becoming out-muscled (post puberty)which on average is at about the 12/13 year age. But, as I said, the FA Rules state that mixed gender is only until U11, from then on it will be single gender football. There is nothing illegal or discriminatory in this ruling against the Sex Discrimination Act.

I remember my lad playing Gregory Celtic at u11 level last saeson and they had a girl in there team and all players said they didnt want to tackle her as she is a girl. I remember someone saying that she will not be allowed at u12 level due to FA rules. Be interesting to see if she still plays for them or not.

http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/RulesandRegulations/NewsAndFeatures/2010/MixedFootballShow/quote the above link. There was dispensation last season for a 'trial' but because of the vote this was removed for this season.

I thought girls and boys could play together until the age of 12, well that's what I learnt at school anyway.
But then again I was told by the same teacher after I had refed a boys game at school, that I knew nothing about football, for the same reason as this..I "didn't understand the offside rule"....well Sir..there is no offside in 5-a-side!
