What you lot witness yesterday at Sixfields was the end of a frustrating 6 year jail sentence for us Blades, a team who once upon a time were a founding team in the newly formed Premier League.....however in more recent years an established Championship team who might have flirted with the top flight again, but never the less a club of our stature shouldn't have been rotting away in the third tier of English football for so long!
And it has hurt!.....Of course our neighbours success in recent years has piled an added bit of pressure on us however despite the fact that we ended up in League One through merit, we have never felt at home here and season upon season with a few failed play-off's thrown in for good measure....I has been a tough time for us!
All in all I thought the attitude from the Cobblers fans yesterday was exemplary and I thank you all for the the understanding and backing. The majority of our fans were in high spirits and behaved however a few did "take the michael" so to speak. But you lot took it on the chin in the spirit of football and I salute you for it.
I must be a bit of a weird one in this day and age to see the opposition fans invade the pitch......Whilst it may seem harsh to some, it was sheer emotion that overflowed and it wasn't intended in any way to disrespect The Cobblers, it was sheer venting of built up emotions!
Northampton Town were very accommodating towards our fans yesterday.....They allowed the pitch invasion and they allowed our fans to stand around after the game and wait for the gaffer and players to come back out. They didn't have to but they did and we are enormously grateful to the club for letting us do so.
Anyway I hope that should we meet again, that it is in the league above!.....No disrespect but we are in no hurry to go back into that league!.....
Who knows though...This season you lot establish yourselves in the league and then hopefully build on it! Who knows, dare to dream! Bigger things may beckon and from this day forwards I will keep an eye out for you and I wish you well all of the way!
Thank you again Cobblers for a memorable day and for the understanding and hospitality.....I wish you lot the best of luck for the future!

A great post and really excellently written. Well done! I think a lot us knew exactly what you were experiencing as it was our turn last year. So it was our pleasure. Obviously the Chris Wilder connection helped immensely. I don't think you'd have had the same pleasurable experience had the game been played against Oxelona who really are the best team in League One!!!

I think most of us realised years ago, that people from Yorkshire are a bunch of c***s, so we just let it slide.

Congrats on promotion.
Shame about the idiotic behaviour of the away supporters with large pitch invasions after both goals, and goading the home support.

No issue from most of us with your goal celebrations mate. I'd have definitely done it if the roles were reversed. Congratulations and best of luck to you next year. With Wilder and Knill, I fully expect a top half finish for you.
There were a few idiots in the stands from both sets of teams. But I spoke to many of your fans on Saturday and they were all superb.

Great banter from the Blades fans before and after the game.
Apart from the usual few idiots, totally understandable behaviour.
Good Luck to you in the Championship with Wilder & Knill.
We had our glory away at Exeter.

I don't think anyone minded the celebrations after the final whistle, indeed we have been there and done it and Exeter's pitch took a battering from an influx of fans last season. The fact that some Blades fans ran on our pitch after their equalizer, damaged advertising boards and generally made utter dicks of themselves by causing trouble in the home stands and goading some of our fans has left a bitter taste in the mouths of many. So well done on promotion, but now f*** off back up North and hope that Sheffield Wednesday rip you all a new arsehole next season.

Isn't it about time the club did something about the advertising boards? They're the Spanish announce table of Sixfields, always taking a battering from everybody

Loving the WWE reference. They are a bit of a worry, "passionate" away fans seem intent on knocking them off at every given opportunity. Better cable ties?

Every club has its dickheads and some clubs lack respect . I'm afraid Sheffield Utd are guilty of both . We all love Wilder - good luck next season and hopefully you can punch at the weight you should be playing at .

Are you suggesting that there might be a ruck with their local rivals?

The best thing about Blades promotion is that Wilder poached NONE of our players from last season. True a lot moved on of their own accord but hands up who thought he would take Smith, O'Toole Buchannan etc

Nope, those players may have been good enough to get out of league two and hopefully stay in league one but i never thought they were the standard he needed for the job he had on his hands. Apart from possibly Holmes and maybe smith

Great move if he wants to follow the Mark Bunn "splinters in his backside" career model.
