One of our wonderful match day volunteers for the medical team, Kevin Scates, passed away on Christmas Day. He became ill on Saturday.
I had the honour of meeting Kev last Saturday (16th December at the Boro home game) when John Berylson presented the medical team with the medical equipment bought as a result of the collection arising from the heroic efforts and sad events surrounding Antony Murphy's death.
Kev worked on Antony for a long time and was presented with a Royal Humane Society Award by JB last week for the amazing work he put in on that day. That is what the picture below is.
I know that Millwall fans all appreciate the work these brilliant people put in to keep us safe and thought you would all like to know this sad news.
Micky, FOTB, and I have agreed that the balance of the collection for the medics can be passed to Kev's family to help with these unexpected and difficult circumstances. In view of the current situation an announcement regarding how the funds raised for the medics were spent on equipment which provides our Club with top level match day medical care will probably be slightly delayed.
RIP Kev,
Mel.
