It seems 'Insider' may not have as much 'inside' information as some thought, according to the Chron we are not in for either Grant or Mcaleny!

Yep, JED says he hasn't spoken to either player. He is still hopeful of getting his squad in place for the start of pre-season. As they start back next Friday (23rd) there could be a busy 8 days coming up.

Good old Insider!
Generally not one for idle comments or rumours. If Chron is correct then I am wrong on Grant who appeared to be a nailed on signing. Could be a screening tactic by Club. Maybe it is McAleny (whatever his name) as Insider does not normally comment unless it is justified.

PMSL. A friend of mine at the Stag's in Earls Barton mentioned on Saturday night that McEleney had been released, so for a little bet I said I'd post on here and see how long it would be before someone said something. That JED even felt it necessary to comment demonstrates that too many of you take it all too seriously. Some of you need to lighten up a bit, clearly worn down by Dave Bedscobbler. Looking forward to pre-match pints with his brother at our various away game hostelries.
I have however genuinely backed us £100 at 14/1 to win promotion.

JED only commented because he was asked by the Chron. It is them who obviously believed you.

A bit of facesaving and backtracking, methinks.

FWIW I've stuck some cash on us to get promoted today too.

I wonder if JED might be interested in Luke Williams - it's a bit of a stretch to say he can play striker but his Wikipedia entry says he is so it must be true! I just hope it's not keshi back on a permanent.

I would think it would be no to both of those. Could it be another Exeter player though, David Wheeler?

I would love that but unless he is out of contract - and I don't think he is - it would be highly unlikely, I don't think he can play up front either. On unrelated transfer news I see that oxford have had a £250,000 bid for a cb from Partick accepted - he was the only non-Celtic of rangers player yo be in the Scottish premier team of the year.

Yes, you are correct. Wheeler is still under contract, so we can probably rule that one out. I was very impressed with him in the playoff final, good in the air with a good goalscoring record. It will be interesting to see who we do sign. Another name is Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

I rarely post on here nowadays as I've got a lot going on but I can let you know that our target signing is Ben reeves from mk dons.

Chris Maguire At Poxford fits the brief too and I know JED has been keen on him in the past

With both Charlton and Sheff united both in for him and a "very good offer" on the table from MK Dons, I would say there is very little chance.

JET would fit the bill but I would hope not based on reports on his bad attitude and laziness when on loan at gillingham.

When you look at the other teams in our division , we have done as much business as most . It's been quite quiet so far

Reeves is a proper player. One to really enjoy watching. So alas he is as unlikely as McAleny. McGuire doesn't fit the young bill does he. Great player at this level, but can't see it being him either. Williams is great, but forever injured.
Back to the drawing board...
