Are we signing 2or3 more players then having the rest of the squad made up of loanees again ?
Why don't you just relax, wait and see who he brings in first. Things change all the time in the transfer market so if a loan is a better option then so be it.

I think it is a combination of warm weather and a weekend on the lash. Normality resumed tomorrow I am sure. Also with all the crap news out in the world right now I'm looking for some Cobblers related news to concentrate on!

Yep, told you it was Internet fact or talk. Definitely in the case of Mark Marshall.

Okay, we have half identified them now at least. And when and where were we linked to either of those?

I've just read up about Mark Marshall, Bradford's player of the year last season. He's also 30 and an out and out winger. So doesn't exactly fit the criteria that JED talked about last week. The lad from Reading can play 'in the hole' as well as on the wing and kind of ticks the boxes of the type of versatile player we'd be after to fill the last remaining attacking position in the squad. Wouldn't surprise me if we were after him, I did think that when I saw Charlton's tweet earlier saying that they'd signing him!

Why? We may have offered a contract? Charlton is obviously a bigger draw. Wanted to move closer to London. Do we need to be linked to players to be able to sign them? How many have we been linked to so far this pre-season?

Big week this week as far as signings are concerned. If we bring in 3 or 4 of the 6 needed, I think it would be safe to say that we are on track with things.
If we bring in just the 1 or 2, then something would have gone a bit wrong.
A week today, preps for the new season will be underway and any decent player would want to have sorted out his future in time for pre-season training. I suspect its decision time for many an in demand professional footballer this week!

Yes, We MAY have offered a contract. Equally, we may not have done. JED has stated he wants versatile players, Daniel Powell is a winger but can play up front or in the hole. Some one started this rumour earlier in May that we were after him (Marshall), when he was still involved in the play-offs with Bradford.

Reading this, we were never in for Marshall, no way we could have completed financially with either Bradford or Charlton... http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportbcfc/15353811.Abbott_says_Bantams_went__beyond_call_of_duty__in_trying_to_keep_Charlton_bound_Marshall/GREG Abbott says City offered Charlton-bound Mark Marshall the ‘ biggest deal for a League One player in the history of the club’. It was confirmed tonight that the winger had turned down City’s deal to join the Addicks on a two-year contract. But Bantams chief scout Greg Abbott insisted the club had ‘gone beyond the call of duty’ to try and persuade last season’s player of the year to stay. And he said the club were hopeful of making two new signings early next week, having made two six-figure bids this week. Abbott said: “I have to say, on this occasion the club went beyond the call of duty to re-sign Mark Marshall. “Stuart and I agreed on a figure and Edin (Rahic, City’s co-owner) outstripped us both. He went way beyond the call of duty and offered more than what me and Stuart thought was the right amount to offer him. “It would have been the biggest deal for a League One player in the history of the club but Marshy wanted a bit more. “That’s fine as footballers always try and get the best deal they can but that knocked the wind out of our sails. “He had to make that choice based on that little extra finance and his family being down there in London. “We haven’t won on this occasion but we gave it as good as we got.” Despite the loss of Marshall, Abbott is in upbeat mood after a productive week behind the scenes regarding potential targets. He said: “It comes off the back of a week when we put two six-figures bids in for players. We mean business again, we are ready to go and compete. “There are eight or nine weeks before the season starts and I think we could make two deals on Monday. “Terms have been agreed and medicals arranged and we are hopeful.” Marshall, who was keen to move back down to his native London, will link up with Billy Clarke, who City sold to Charlton last week.

We don't have to be linked to players in order to sign them. But your first post was cryptic, didn't identify which players you were talking about or why the were/might have been potential targets. If you had said 'Charlton have signed Marshall and Fosu, both of whom are wingers and therefore could have been targets based on JED comments last week'. We wouldn't have needed more posts to clarify. In the age of 2 follower twitter account transfer rumours and fake news, you cant blame people for being dismissive when you gave absolutely no clue who or what you were talking about.
