I didn't same the games themselves are pointless. Players need match practice. I mean that watching them is.

I think u just like to moan.....

I must be one of the few that enjoys pre season friendlies for what they are, a chance to watch new players that may be playing for the Cobblers in the season to come. It's rarely more that a fiver and at some of the non league grounds you get to enjoy a beer in the sunshine.
I much prefer that to some of the dour games we endure in winter.
I like the 'beer in the sunshiiine' bit!  Grin

On a more serious point, as ive put on the Zakuani page, we will have a new keeper and centre back partnership. We need games for them to gel and get to understand each other. The relationship and confidence between a keeper and his defense is one of the most important on the pitch
           Agreed.

At least a pre-season friendly gives us proper fans to get the boot in on a few Sileby w@nkers.

I am pulling together a few lads to give those six fingered nonces a proper kicking this year. Last year a few of their ultras managed to corner me outside the stadium which resulting in 9 stitches and 4 days away from my lucrative plumbing business.

Let me know if you want any further details but we are planning on rushing the stewards just before half time and getting into the home end with fists flying. Planning on getting the game abandoned before 70 minutes so that the result doesn't stand.

Yeah, OK?

That's what happens when you go out into the sticks. The natives get overexcited and decide to have a pop at those five-fingered townies. It's no wonder prospective players are put off signing for us, knowing they'll have to train in that neck of the woods.

Pre season friendlies
A waste of a summers day as far as I am concerned as a supporter .
They mean nothing and give no indication to the season ahead .

they do we had great pre season  under wilder and won the league then had s*** pre season with page and had just as good a season although thank f*** it ended with a different manager

I don't really do pre season  friendlies, though I have been known to pop along to watch us at Brackley.
People say they are no measure of the season to come. Don't agree with that, there has been a fair few crap pre-seasons followed by a crap season.

Preseason games must help the players to get match fit, You can train as much as you like, but you can't beat a match.

I see we have only have 5 preseason friendlies lined up so far.

I suspect we'll have another one lined up the weekend before the season starts but with so many players likely to be on board, I would've thought we'd have a few more games lined up.

Every time the i see a pre season thread all I see are the same people saying how they wouldn't pay to watch them. Every single time.
But you'll happily bore us to death with your views on them
What he said, same every year

Good Afternoon!

Wasn't expecting that!
Really chuffed that the mighty Newport County are coming to Sixfields!
Now if you could just lend us a couple of strikers we might give you a good game!
Up the County!

Agree we were s*** last pre-season but I think you might be overstating the pre-season under Wilder, it was no more than 'steady'. Beat Sileby 1-0, drew 0-0 with Burgess Hill Town for example. The only result where you could say we did better than expected was a 2-2 draw with Birmingham

Maybe it will involve a trip to where the half time refreshments are noodles and rice.
