I must admit, more than ever we seem to have so many doom and gloom supporters! All I consistently see on the supporters FB page, or even in topics on here is panic stations that we've not completed our summer business... why aren't we signing players... omg so and so has gone to wherever it maybe. You seem to be forgetting, this season has pretty much been abysmal. Edinburgh said after the Gillingham game, there needs to be a lot of changes and so far he has kept his word! Admittedly we lost Diamond and Smith who in an ideal work we would of wanted to keep, but Smith wanted away so no point longing out negotiations when we could be concentrating on bringing in a suitable replacement who will have the reassurance of being the no.1 for the club, which could mean a better keeper dropping down and signing for us. Also with Diamond, he wanted pastures new.

Many seem to think we have made two signings already, which is two more than many clubs in the football league. Can I ask that rather than moan, whether it be able the lack of signings currently, an error in a club mass email.. can we all just get behind the club and more importantly Justin Edinburgh. I feel in a more comfortable position with him leading the club into next season, compared to how I felt about RP leading us into the last. Also, with Rod leaving yesterday, I am not entirely sure it was a bad thing. He has only played a handful of games in L2 in a great team (who I'm sure made him look even better than he actually was!) & neither RP or JED rated him and this must be for a reason.

Please be patient, the signing will come. The club isn't going to go into the season with no defenders. I believe they're taking their time and getting the recruitment right. Yes, its annoying seeing clubs announcing 2/3 signings in a day, but our day for this will come. As long as business is mainly done by the time the club gathers again for pre-season, who cares if the deals are done on the 10th May of the 29th June for example. Another thing to remember is a lot of players contracts don't actually end until 31st June and will be buying time to try get a better deal where they are, before looking for a new club.

Also, the club now is in a far better position than 24 months ago. We actually have a chairman who knows what he is doing and wants to move this club forward, any little mistakes they may make in communications. Please look at the bigger picture, the club has improved so much over the last 18 months since KT has come in.

I don't mean to sound like I'm having a go at the supporters as we are a massive part of this club but it really feels like some people do just moan for the sake of moaning about nothing.

Enjoy the summer, the signings will be coming!!  Grin

Well said, some just like to moan about anything and everything. If they won a million pound they would then moan because then didn't get two million.

Stop reading the communication outlets you're currently reading. 90% of the football league are exactly the same. We are no more doom and gloom than the others.

A post of this 'metamoaning' kind appears every pre-season.

The early criticism of Page last summer proved to be bang on the money. It was clear very early on that the guy was a clown who had no idea about how to build on the foundations that Wilder had so expertly played. For example, I would say that the criticism of Page's 'decision' to replace the talismanic Ricky Holmes with a 6 month-loanee rookie or to sign a virtually identical striker to Rico was entirely justified.

I agree with you, however, that it's too early to judge JED's summer recruitment. The decision to allow Smith, Diamond and Zakuani to leave might prove to be eminently sensible or it might prove to be disastrous. It entirely depends on who he brings in and how well he can integrate them into a coherent defensive unit. At least Powell and G.Smith look like decent signings on paper, whereas most of Page's looked s***e on paper and even worse in reality.

I've always argued that part of being an engaged supporter - rather than an apathetic fan - is taking a critical interest in the manager's and chairman's decision making. Sometimes we're wrong and sometimes we're right, but that's part of the fun of it. In any case this forum would be a very dull place if we just clapped like elephant seals whenever the manager made a decision.

We are without a shadow of a doubt the most happy clapping agreeable set of supporters that have ever passed through a turn style..
Not for us to ask serious  questions to those who stand at the wheel sailing us through choppy water onto an uncertain future as that is frowned apon but giving the many last meal ticket players or the poor discarded youngsters who rock up here trying to save careers may get some unacceptable  backlash.. Its not their fault they are all we can recruit.. and thats why I very rarely target these guys and  will them somewhat in vain  to succeed .

I have no expectations for the club to get some quality in over the Summer  to give us a challenging team, the infrastructure is not there to support it.. but a hard working competitive side made up from the pool of players available to us and I will travel up and down the country in hope we gain the points needed for survival..
So no doom mongering here just realistic expectations in the absence of a fit and proper stadium.

On the other hand, sitting in the garden , with a beer in my hand, listened to the millwall game today, sounds like they played "the Northampton way" . A trip to Wembley next year for us with our Matty doing a Frain.
Don't know why, probably the beer, but feeling confident for next year. JED is going to be his team playing his way .

I thought about sitting in the garden with a beer, but it kept pissing down.
Speaking of which, does anybody on here live near Bicester? As I drove through a quite spectacular thunderstorm last night, about 19:30, full lightning strikes, flooded roads, wipers on full, 10 mph, and couldnt see a thing.

Not entirely sure that SEC post is a moan at the moaners. The real moaners are those who adapt a negative stance on players, the Manager and even the Chairman. Most of it is unjustified criticism, but once you get to know who they are then it is easy to ignore them.

an interesting thing about that play off final the chap who scored the winning goal was on our books but was disregarded, because an old journeyman was problem blocking his development with us.

And that the majority on here thought that the winning keeper was useless?

Archer was well and truly vilified by some on here. Always risky to demonise a youngish player who goes onto better things. Wonder if McDonald will come back to bite us; not to mention Morison!

Morison was rightly released as his attitude was crap.

Archer was abysmal here, but looks to have improved a lot.
