Nice piece with Atko here. No matter what happened after he'll always be a legend at the club.

And annoyingly, if we have got the kind of stadium Swansea have we could have been a Prem/Championship club such was the momentum at the club in the late 90's.

Great day.
We took 32,000, Swansea took 14,000. They've gone on to achieve Premier League status in front of 20,000 plus crowds. Think big, look what can happen.

It was one of the very few moments of happiness that you get when following the Cobblers.

IAN ATKINS WAS ONE OF THE BEST MANAGER WE EVER HAD.
Quote
He was certainly up there with the best that is for sure. The 2 seasons 96/97 (Div 3) and 97/98 (Div 2) were classic examples of finding a system that brought the best out of the players available and meant the whole was greater than the sum of the parts - if you were there, who could forget the play-off semi final 3-2 win at home to Cardiff City in 97 (the 6th time we played them that season - W4 D1 L1), beating Swansea City 1-0 at Wembley in the Final to get promotion, and best of all for me, overturning a 3-1 first leg defeat to beat Ian Holloway's Bristol Rovers 3-0 at Sixfields in the second leg on a very warm and humid night when we were all over them like a rash, and when I swear the West Stand actually was rocking and in some danger of collapse! Happy Days indeed

What a day, what a weekend. Just a shame we've been pretty awful in the play offs since then.
There's always next season...

Quite right, We used to be able to keep clean sheets then, but sadly not since.
