Offered a severance package, so basically he's being begged to accept the sack at a price Liverpool can afford

......... I'd gladly take £3m to 'accept' the sack today! The additional benefit of leaving the fine city of Liverpool would be bonus in its own right.  Wink

Truely a club in turmoil.

If there is one thing you can say about Liverpool fans its that they certainly back their manager. Benitez never lost the fans support even after last seasons disappointment.

It's sad that two cowboys in Hicks/Gillette have been able to bring that club to it's knees with no regard for its past and traditions.

Now this is where I see the major problem with Liverpool.

In my eyes, the fans have spent too much time and energy in trying to oust the American owners that they can't see how poorly the club have been doing in their primary role as a football team. More concentration by the fans on the footy and more of them would have wanted this day to come I reckon.

The same will happen to United when Sir Alex turns 90 and loses his marbles and signs Giles Coke to play in goal

I suppose it's the lesser of two evils.

Benitez has always backed the fans, and used that backing to have a go at the owners.

What the owners have done is nothing short of disgraceful, buying the club for one price and then looking to sell it for a cool 200million pound profit 3 years later and in the meantime all they have done is lumbered the club with a load of debt and the new stadium (which they promised to start building within 6 months of taking over) is nothing more than a pipe dream.

Your right about United though, one bad season and it will all go t*ts up for them as well...
