The thing I find bizarre, is this is
exactly the same squad we put out against Derby County - and the performance was much, much better.
I know that was a pre-season friendly, and stakes aren't the same - but ultimately I still believe that all teams want to win regardless of friendly or not ? I attended all but 1 of the pre-season friendly games and have to say they looked a lot stronger than they did on Saturday at Shrewsbury. First away game I went to ever, was looking forward to it all week and left feeling deflated. Apart from Cornell, Pierre, A Taylor, Barnett, nobody really impressed me. The one who has disappointed me the most from the new signings is Crooks. He looked totally disinterested.
So, same team members, same manager, same formation..I don't get it. I'm with a few others on here, you can't 100% blame the manager all the time in these situations, there are 11 other players on the pitch that are in control of what they do on it. JED doesn't have a mini remote control for all of them as they run around
Our pre-season was questionable before it started: Sileby, Birmingham U23s, Frome, R&D, Kettering, Derby, Newport County? Yeah right. Shrewsbury warmed up against Villa, Wolves, Cardiff and Burton. Rather speaks for itself, what did we learn? Fvck all based on Saturday's evidence. Who the heck dreamt our pre-season up?
I walked out on Saturday after their goal, so didn't witness the Cornell tirade (it that's what it was). Cornell is an accident waiting to happen. Extremely poorly positioning for their very first kick (near post and had to tip the ball backwards into no-man's land). Worse, 3-4 free kicks/corners he palmed the high ball down a yard in front of him; better teams will wise up and punish him. And from immediately behind the goal he did seem to dive late to the winner. Never mind, he managed to kick his last three kicks from hand straight out for a throw in.
