My thinking is this:

                        Cornell

               Barnett   Ash   Pierre
Powell                                        Buchs
                       M. Taylor
            Crooks                Kasim

                   Waters
                               Rico

A real pity that JJOT is missing, but at least we have good quality cover to get him as fit as possible before risking him.

Edinburgh has given an injury update this morning:

Doubts

O'Toole- groin- "He was progressing well but felt some discomfort at Frome. He's on the mend but Saturday will probably come a bit too soon for him".

Moloney- hamstring- "He's doing light training but won't quite be ready for Saturday. It's a setback for Brendan and we're all disappointed but he'll be back soon."

McWilliams- ankle- "He'll miss Saturday but he's improving and we're optimistic".

Outs

Hoskins- knee
Foley- knee

For me, I haven't seen enough of him yet.

I think Rico is going to start as our target man, so it's a toss up between Long and Waters. I've seen Waters a few times, he has been impressive and he is our player rather than a loan signing.

That's my reasoning.

Long or Waters coming on when the opposition defence is tiring?

His one and only debut appearance against Newport is enough!  Wink

I wasn't there to see it due to work.  Angry

I think he'll get the twenty minute cameo at the end unless we get injuries, at least for the first game or two.

Can't think there's a chance Rico will start ahead of him! Came on in 2nd half, took on the whole Newport defence...and scored!
He's at least a Championship/high end L1 striker. Unfortunately, Rico has done very little...back end of season or summer!

Apart from score goals you mean?

Looks like Cornell is number one for now:

Well actually, not score goals more the issue, think Frome, (not sure about Sileby) and other giants apart! Of course, those odd tit bit goals were before the far superior Chris Long was on the scene...as was the last minute penalty at Walsall!

Don't normally look forward to the early season games but this feels different... a bit of anticipation.

If I were Edinburgh I would play a 4-2-3-1 with the players that we have. The 5-3-2 doesn't look convincing.

CORNELL

PHILLIPS PIERRE  BARNETT BUCHANAN

M TAYLOR CROOKS

POWELL KASIM WATERS

RICHARDS

I appreciate that it's never going to perfect but you've left out ash Taylor who has been one of our best players in pre season.

Normally we are all over the place with recruitment, club issues, pessimistic posts on here etc.. which gives an expectation of 'just another season' 'here we go again'.
You are probably right, November/December is probably when we have an indication of whether it's going to be a season of success/failure or a bit of both and making a difference either way.
Based on the views of opinions about our recruitment, we appear to have a top half expectation at least, if not pushing for a play-off/promotion?
Juices are flowing...

To be fair most supporters started to get a bit worried in November and December last season. The feelgood factor had worn off by then.
For me it's been a long summer of rumours, replanning and redundancies. We have a few Cobblers fans at work so Im well pleased to have something else to talk about!
Trouble is I've joined JJ Moloney etc on the doubtful list with a flare up of my knee injury.
