Hope you don't mind me sharing this! Here's how the game looked from a neutral POV.

Northampton fans were outstanding throughout by the way. Was a decent performance too - Matt Crooks looked really handy.

Good vid...and following me through the turnstiles I see!  Grin

He was not shocking ; went away hoping he would get better and he has. Don't think your criticism based on last season has any justifiable basis.

That's your opinion then. I think it was Bury away when we lost 3 or 4-0. Watch the goals and tell me he wasn't awful.

I was there !  Which of the goals do you attribute to Cornell, not that it matters so long after the event. If you are basing your opinion on events over 6 months ago so be it and good luck.

You must have been in the loo when goals 1 and 3 went in, woeful positioning.

I was there and he was sh1t at Bury. And most of the other games he played for us when Page dropped Smith in favour of him.

Its ridiculous that people are even suggesting its because of his Page 'links', its because of his performances last season. End of.

The only two friendlies I went to were Rushden and Kettering. The Kettering goal was hit from around 40 yards, he didn't even *try and save it. Just stood there...

BUT. For the last 2 leagues games (Gillingham last season, he was my mom) and then again on Saturday he's been very decent. And by all accounts was at QPR. So credit where credits due. Maybe it was the defence in front of him last season, maybe a bit of both. Who knows. But he really wasn't very good.

And I certainly won't be giving him credit 'for getting himself fit' in time for this season. Why? Because as a professional footballer he should have been bloody fit last season!!!

Im not duly concerned about him being in goal at this moment in time though, I was a bit nervous about his inclusion pre-Shrewsbury. He's doing alright and long may it continue. The bloke who gave him abuse at Shrewsbury was a prized bell-end, I still think he may have saved that if the bloke had connected with the ball properly. His reaction (pre-shot) was of a decent connection, the scuffed effort made sure it beat him. Cornell was very unlucky and deserved a clean sheet.

I remember when we signed him, Oldham stated he was the worst keeper they've ever had. I think that has stuck in my mind, plus the poor performances last season. But credit where it's due - he's started well this season well and certainly seems much fitter.

I think there's also a greed element. With the increase in quality amongst the squad - supporters are inevitably going to look at Cornell/Rico/Revell and even Bowditch as areas where we are at our weakest.

Ironically, Oldham didn't have any 1st team keepers for the season's start...played a youth team keeper for the opener against Headington Amateurs!

Traffic cone!  Grin

Cornell is improving. Though at Shrews, almost every ball retrieved took two attempts! QPR performance will have boosted confidence.

Precisely Coolie but he was never as bad as some make out. He played well against Gillingham, all the friendlies and last two league games. He is as you say improving. This aimless negative criticism based on events last may is plain daft. Or have they  forgotten how poor that defence was in front of him of whom mostly all have gone.
