I'd certainly hope that he has the guts to change it for the league games...
In terms of Rico, based on his Shrewsbury performance, I don't think he does merit a place, but I put him in there as he's captain, arguably better than Revell and the strikeforce would potentially be too lightweight with Lobjoit instead; he can do a job holding up the play.
Having said that I'd be okay with any potential lineup in attack, as long as Bowditch and M. Taylor don't feature. I've never been a hater of Taylor as his contributions last season essentially kept us in League 1, but watching him against Shrewsbury was dire. He looked lost.

I think we perhaps need to give Bowditch more of a chance before writing him off. He's played 1 competitive game for us so far.
Fair enough he may not currently merit a start but let's give him a bit more time to prove himself.

On a side note, Taylor played left-wing back earlier in his career. I don't for one moment think that he has the pace to play there for 90 minutes now, but it could be useful to bring him on in the last fifteen minutes or so if we're chasing a game, purely for his set-piece prowess.

Don't disagree as few players shone on that game - however reports from the friendlies didn't particularly praise his performance. Not being critical but as a striker he goal to game ratio is only modest at a fairly consistent at 1 in 5 - (even reproduced when he was with us 10 years ago with 2 in 10 games). Speaking to some MK fans their praise for him came more from his positional play for goal assists and that's something where I still think there are quite a lot of goals in Rico with the right service (not the ridiculous hoof ball) - key to me is if he is going to play wide left he needs to show himself move available than he has so far - bottom line I still think he could be an asset so I wouldn't write him off.

Season starts here for me. Hoping for a front two of Long and Lobjoit with Waters in behind. Probably a bit lightweight, but would certainly cause problems with the pace.
I think the back three picks itself quite easily this week.

With no signs of a new keeper and Cornell doing well, I'd expect tomorrow's line up to look like:
Cornell
Poole A.Taylor Pierre
Phillips Buchs
Crooks Kasim
Waters Long Rico
Poole will be a straight replacement for Barnett, Kasim should have played his way in front of Taylor but we will see. Still need a target man with Long, so it's Rico for me.
I don't think Moloney or JJOT will be ready, McWilliams should make the bench if fit. What do people think about trying Matty Taylor in the advanced role?

Based on the first 2 games of the season the team that you suggest has to be the one that is selected tomorrow. He's got to be brave and go for younger legs, if he reverts to m Taylor, bowditch or Powell it would be a big mistake.

Tomorrow is more serious than it seems. Lose and we face Charlton and Posh in the coming weeks so it could conceivably be zero points from the first four games...

More positively... win and it could conceivably become 9 points from four games. In all likelihood somewhere in between..

This is literally always the case when you lose a game and have three more fixtures?

This has to be the side that starts . Moloney and JJOT to come in when fit . JED will stick with Buchs though I think .

I have a very bad feeling about today Fleetwood are no mugs, better than Shrews, we will have to have some of that luck back to get out season started. UTC

Well he's got the team selection right (IMHO). We'll just have to see how cohesive we look and how they cope with a strong, well-organised Fleetwood side.
