Im glad that I didnt go in the end. I spend all week in London, and just couldnt face going back down there again, during my limited time off. Instead, I had a hot date in The Lamplighter, we both got drunk, and went back home happy with a kebab. I think that I made the right decision. Roll on Saturday, and hope that Jed has taken on board some of the "advice" that he has been offered on here.

Waters, Crooks and Pierre, good to brilliant...Kasim, utter garbage! What did I say pre-season? Another good night around London Bridge, though a date with a kebab is something. Whole new perspective now on "I fancy a kebab"...or did I misread something?

That's the kindest write up so far on the game. No doubt Insider will disagree! Thought that Crooks had a poor game but Grimes seem to make a difference. We really do need to replace the two R's with a decent striker and possibly a winger as Powell has not exactly set the place alight! Still think Cornell was not too bad certainly better than some on here thought.

It's a fair point that some of the new signings have been very disappointing . No one is calling for them to be sacked

I think the general feeling is that they've been victims of the system or been played out of position. If that's fair or not is up for debate

Crooks and Kasim are playing in their correct positions . They have both been average at best .

True but I think the system is leaving them isolated and the lack of width is restricting their passing options. Most teams we play against have 3 in midfield as well, JED plays the 10 pushed up a fair bit. They might just be crap but I'd like to see them given a run in a different system before writing them 9ff. In the same way JED got a pretty easy ride last season because the squad was poor

You are right , it comes down to the lack of width from players that are essentially defenders . Crooks is at 50% though

Not quite, Evers. I thought that defensively they were poor, but we are so creatively inept at the moment. Revell and to a lesser extent Rico were statuesque and our movement off the ball generally was notable by its absence. Their full backs were there for the taking, but we might as well have offered them a couple of OAP bus passes for all the threat we posed them. At one point Crooks played a potentially defence splitting pass but Revell, Rico and WAters all stood and looked at it and each other. That combination isn't working. We created next to nothing from the wings and little through the middle. My biggest complaint is how poorly organised we were without the ball. Their wingers were given the freedom of the Valley and we were like a knife through butter throughout. Three central defenders is a waste of one if not two players, and Barnett is a liability at anything resembling a full back. Wingers simply walk around him. Our so called wing backs are stationed so far forward that anyone who plays two wingers against us has a field day. It is a failed and failing system. I'd go 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, with Grimes, Crooks, JJOT (Powell). And then go young and quick up front. It's time for some R&R for R&R. But I don't think JED has the balls to take a risk.
