Whats aseems to be overlooked there are laws in this country and the internet is not immune from their enforcement, and it is mo defence to say that nobody took the remarks seriously.

Perhaps we should consider that we still have a board whilst others have been closed permanently in certain circumstances.

Now the people that say the club overreacted are overeacting about the club's "heavy handed" tactics.  You couldn't make it up.

Maybe some people should spend a minute just to reread what the club actually said. Wink

I've always said that despite what your opinions of the club and it's running may be, we are fortunate to be in a pretty unique position where we as supporters have direct access to the man in charge of our club and can ask pretty much any question we like.  Of course being football fans we prefer to moan, make up things and overreact at every oppurtunity. Apologies...meant to say that there is another flaw in all this and Dodger's statement in particular, namely that libel is a civil and not criminal matter and therefore someone posting on an internet message board from overseas simply cannot be pursued.  So unless this board blocks non-UK posters, moderation remains the only practical redress, and it may also explain why the club statement prefaced their threat with "potential legal action".   No ISP will handover such data (they've even refused to do so in criminal cases) so if they're going to pick a fight to test case law, then it's hardly likely to be over a petty spat like this.

Many apologies for the confusion, but I can't see how I can simplify the message. Perhaps you could explain in more detail what you would like me to clarify.
