Now the squad looks more or less complete, what would your preferred XI be if everyone was available?

I'd go

Cornell
Maloney Taylor Pierre Buchs
JJOT Crooks
Waters Grimes Powell
Long

I'd go along with that selection EssTree. We appear to have a surfeit of quality midfieders, and on the other hand we lack an obvious striking partnership. For me, playing a 5 man midfield is an absolute no brainer, but I fear JED is still stubbornly wedded to 5-3-2. This is what I think he'll go with:

                  Cornell

Buchanan  Pierre  Taylor  Poole/Barnett   Moloney

               Crooks           Kasim

                       Grimes

Long              Waters (or Revell/Rico if he wants to be direct)

Having Grimes in the hole instead of Bowditch/Waters will probably be an improvement, but IMO we won't start playing to our full potential until he goes with 4-2-3-1.

agree with your 'JED' line up apart from strikers, I think he will want Revs or Rico each game, rightly or wrongly.

My preferred formation is 4-3-3 but I think this squad screams 4-2-3-1, we don't have many wingers but a few that can play as wide forwards cutting in to support a lone striker.

This is quite obviously what the majority of fans were excited to see this season, shame we haven't seen it yet!

Id go along with that but Taylor for Barnett.

                CODDINGTON
MOLONEY TAYLOR PIERRE  BUCHANAN
             O'TOOLE  CROOKS
      WATERS  GRIMES  POWELL
                  RICHARDS (c)

Although if we are sticking with the dreaded 3/5/2

                      CODDINGTON
               POOLE  TAYLOR  PIERRE
MOLONEY                                     BUCHANAN
             CROOKS O'TOOLE GRIMES
                  WATERS RICHARDS

Am I the only one that thinks Poole looks better than both Taylor (accident waiting to happen) and Barnett (accident waiting to happen part 2)
                                   Coddington

Am I the only person who would consider not putting JJOT in a starting line up?

I reckon you'd be in the minority, you're clearly a maverick  Grin. What would your favoured line-up be?

Mine would be:

                      A.Nother

Moloney     A.Taylor  Pierre   Buchs

                 Crooks   O'Toole

Powell                             Waters

                     Grimes

                       Long

Likely for Charlton:

                       Cornell

    Barnett       A. Taylor     Pierre

Phillips                                   Buchs

               Crooks     Kasim

                     Grimes

               Waters     Rico

Not my preferred but the likely line-up fore Charlton.
How do you know that? I doubt Bucs and Phillips will be that way around.

Yes I changed them around already. It's just my opinion that it will be the likely line-up.

I reckon Moloney, Long and Revs will start tomorrow in place of Phillips, Waters and Rico from your team. Not my choice but what I think JED will do

I think Waters has got himself into decent positions in the past few games and should have a few goals already. Would be surprised if he is dropped. Anyway we're getting off topic from the thread title. My XI would definitely be 4-2-3-1.

I have never been one for saying who should be the starting XI but with the signing of Grimes today I reckon, objectively, that with Rico & Revell looking to be past their best we are one top striker short of having a very good side. That is not easy to write because both are excellent professionals.

Not available, he's gone on strike to force through a move to Barcelona....at least I think that was him
