Why would you hope WE don't get the land?
Please define WE?

We get the land= much needed development to grow our club. They get the land = a token gesture at best, some boxes perhaps?

Bit of a compromise there Beds? - but to be fair at least it wouldn't be such a f***ing eyesore and might generate a little extra revenue.

'According to the company’s website he [Jimmy] “has a hands on role in his developments, designing them for modern family living, working with his architects to maximise light and space and the subcontractors and suppliers to ensure lavishness and luxury are incorporated”.' So that's the real reason we appointed him... to design the east stand. Makes sense

We = The club and its future growth possibilities . They= A token gesture from an outside consortium before they move on.

Why do you lump this news under your subject "Controversy"; well done for digging it out as its interesting? Not sure if JFH would appreciate his name lumped under the subject heading.

But do you say con-troversy or con-tro-versy Don't give me that American potato, tomato boll ocks either. It's also definitely Scone too, not "scon" unless your Northern and feckless, you don't drive past rows of road cons do you? Maybe Jimmy likes a cream tea?

Bone, Cone, Hone, Phone.... But then again: None, Done... Or: Gone, Shone... Or - just accept English is weird and that some words have alternative pronunciations based largely on where you live or were born. "Castle" or "bath" have a north/south division. I think "Cobblers" is universal in pronunciation but not in meaning. When I was 12 at a Chelsea v Cobblers cup game I was naive enough to think they were being friendly. I was also surprised to be a "Dirty northern bastard"!

Yes you can't be a dirty northern bar-stard! ( Like Bath or Barth!) Much more effective with a Northern twang as I remember from the Hotel days, "You dirty norven bas-tud." We would also always put on the accent when singing the joyful ditty directed at our less than cultured friends from the north, "I go art an drink 10 pints an ar get f***in plas-tud..... Great language we have, shame it's suppressed so much these days. Speak your mind and it often leads to... Controversy.
