Off topic but putting it here so people see it. Very eye-opening in showing how chaotic deadline day can be.

It gives away how much Ricky Holmes went for in that (even though they got his first name mixed up with the Exeter one)... £600,000. Wilder wanted him at Sheffield (obvs) but he thought it was too much.

Thats alot more than people thought.

Also that article demonstrates just how disgusting a few agents are. Taking advantage of young footballers who really have no idea. Parents need to take more of a front seat role.

I checked with KT and apparently it's not quite accurate.

Try reading it again, in a Yorkshire accent.
 "We've pulled out of deals in the past, like for Lee Holmes, who went to Charlton Athletic for £600,000. We thought that was too much."
That sounds to me, like he was enquiring about the price, if he was to purchase him from Charlton. I work with a few broad Yorkies, and they do take a bit of understanding, they dont always come over eloquently.

Regarding the transfer of Ricky Lee (note the 2nd name is the same as the Exeter player's first name) Holmes from Northanpton to Charlton on June 16th 2016 (the date is per wikipedia but also backed up elsewhere);

Charlton Athletic's Financial Statements for the year ended June 30th 2016 state that Total Player's Registrations costs for the year amounted to £4.119 million and that these "related primarily to the acquisitions of Naby Sarr, Nicky Ajose, Jorge Avelino Teixeira and Zakarya Bergdich". If Charlton had paid  £0.6 million for Ricky he would have appeared on this list. The Post Balance Sheet events note (the statements were filed on March 30th 2017) states that Charlton have only spent £0.359 million on transfer costs, termination payments and agency fees so I think it's a fair guess to assume Ricky's transfer cost hasn't leaked into a post June 30 2016 event (certainly not £0.6 million anyway).

Seems like Sheff, bid 400,00 for Ricky, but it wasnt quite enough.

For what its worth Wilder is crazy imo not to resign Ricky Holmes, £60000 these days is nothing to these top clubs.... as we all know he is one of the best attacking players in the lower leagues.

CW's opinion that £600k was too much last season in L2 would be right inmho. And now they're in the Championship same applies as the guy has not played at that level. This isn't to say I don't agree with your statement. The most exciting Cobblers player in 30 years.

Hang on? So are you telling me that if a bigger club comes in for Ricky Holmes you don't have to sell him?
