Waters...players players of season, fans player of season, top scorer...comes here, gets played out wide, zero goals , zero assists!
Hardly call him a player with a good record. He's a young and untested 'investment' type signing. Much like Waters. Look at James Collins... loads can do it in lower leagues and struggle at a better level. When we signed James Collins, he provided the goals as expected.

I think Collins would have been a much better option than Richards or Revell. Good age, mobile, better fitness record and I think he would have scored more goal as well.

The only thing JFH has done so far is make us more organised . Everything else has failed and the lack of selection consistency , particularly on the left shows he hasn’t really got any more of an idea than any of us .
Touched on this on the Powell thread but I would say it isn't just the left but our four most attacking players that has been constantly chopped and changed. I thought it was fair enough when JFH first came in and was searching for formulas, early results bought him that time but now we need to give the players some consistency. I'm not about to argue that anyone in our squad will turn into a world beater but surely with pretty much a whole new squad we need some consistency of selection and give them a chance to build some partnerships. The constant changes in the front four will not only affect those players but also the full backs and deeper midfielders who cannot build up any understanding of how someone plays. Lets give Powell and Hanley 3 or 4 games on spin on the right and left wings respectively, if they're still not doing it then bomb them out. I'm not a huge fan of either but they are probably the best we have. Hanley over Smith because I think he's beat his man a bit more when he plays and I suspect the very early assist v Doncaster may be clouding the view of Smiths performances a little. Stick McGugan in the '10' role.

You are right , JFH has to stop mucking about and stick with his team now . He has seen enough of everyone to make a choice . Get a pattern going and commit to individuals . I too would stick with Hanley on the left of midfield over Smith . I wouldn’t rule Smith out at left back though .

Why don't we just play a system to suit the players we have in the squad. Both Hanley & Smith are not wingers. When we finally get some decent wingers in, then we can play that system.
Therefore, we should be playing a 4-1-2-1-2 (yes, a diamond) system. No ifs or buts - I don't agree with playing people out of position it leads to a disjointed team, our problem all season.
I do agree that JFH needs to stop chopping and changing the team, to allow some understanding to develop.

From what I have seen and heard of our currreny Manager, I think he's another "ex-player Charlatan", and it worries me that having already changed Manager we are stuck with the guy,

Yes, he would have been an asset. When we took him, he'd banged in 7 goals in 17 starts for Shrews, and they were entrenched in the bottom four in League 1. It amazes me that people still decry his ability at this level. We should have signed him and Marquis, and that's not hindsight because many said it at the time.

I’m not saying he should be sacked , but how long has JFH got ? Do managers have probation periods like us normal folk where you have to price yourself over 6 months otherwise you can be sacked with a weeks notice ? If we don’t win for another four games is he gone ?

Let's not go there Boot & Shoe................yet.
I hope JFH succeeds and if he does we will be happy. As I have commented elsewhere and contrary to what he is saying to the media he has inherited a group of players many of whom are simply not good enough.

And yet reading back over other threads, so many felt the squad was a strong one.?

True but as always there was a great deal of spin such as played at a higher level, highly rated, many other clubs interested and so on. I could have written the script in May. It is only when they are on the pitch that we can see for ourselves and with one or two exceptions I am not impressed. Add to that the fundamental problem of our ageing strike force which had been struggling well before this season began. If it is clear to us why not to those that make the decisions?

With Shakespeare gone at Leicester, chances are When the new manager comes in Appleton will be out too. If this coincided with a managerial vacancy here I wonder how many want him?.

Think I refrred to your last point in another thread. I think its that employ of so many "old" legs all up front that bamboozles me. Just cant understand how someone, anyone, didn't shout "Hang on!" We've got this 30+ forward and this 30+ forward do y9ou really think we need another? But it seems they thought we did.
