I hope Iaciofano & Lobjoit get some decent game time in the Caraboo cup else we may as well try & ship at least one of them out on loan in Jan.

               Ingram
Moloney Pierre Taylor Buchs
McWilliams O'Toole Grimes
                Crooks
      Hoskins         Long
                Revell

pretty sure we are out this cup? and you cant use 12 players.

i just hope that JFH is using this run of games to look at most of the players in a match environment before making judgement - strange he hasn't looked at waters and the 2 young strikers though.

i think we would have all taken 7 points from those 4 games so as players come back to fitness he will have more of an idea of his best 11 and go from there.

Interested (but not surprised) to see the comments on Powell and Bowditch.

What is it with them? They've played pretty much their whole career either in the League above or at the top end of League 1 and they've generally been regulars.

Is it attitude? Were they poor players being carried by good teams? Have we used them wrong so far?

I know he's not been great so far but maybe we need to cut Bowditch a bit of slack and judge him after he's played a few games on the spin - if selected, he may be struggling for match fitness/rhythm. Appreciate I'm probably being too kind, I saw him get written off on the basis of a couple of pre-season games which felt unfair but the doubters have been right so far.

Powell's been disappointing, especially as our only true wide player. I suspect he's played most of his football as a wide forward rather than a wide midfielder in a 4-4-2, he doesn't seem up to that job unfortunately.

I thought overall we did alright last night, I thought 2nd half was a lot better than we have played 2nd half all season, we weren't dropping deep and we were trying to compete. If you look at here side (championship last year) they have been playing together a while, whilst we are still learning what works best.
I thought the 2 weak links in our team last night were Powell (who did play better than he has) and Rico. Rico I think is reaching the end of a good career and should only be a bit part player from now on.
I though Hanley did well and would love to see the 2 young strikers either get a chance or be loaned out to get gametime. we are a work in progress but overall looking better each game, I believe we now have the right man in charge and we will move up the table as we get fitter and stronger and more drilled.

How was it not a penalty by the way?! Just seen the clip the club posted. Ridiculous decision.

I think it's fair to say that we're not getting the rub of the green with these non penalty decisions away from home and that's putting it mildly. I also think that those who are advocating us getting rid of the likes of bowditch and Powell better get used to the fact they're with us for the next while - if I recall all of the signings pre Chinese investment were on 2 year contracts which means that they're going to be very difficult to shift even if jimmy wants to. This means that come January when jimmy will likely want to bring some of his players in we are going to end up with a bloated squad.

I didn't rate Hanley but cut him slack as he's probably had the least game time of the whole squad.

But you can't say he did well when he didn't contribute a single attacking moment. Surely that was at least 50% of his job last night. It was as if he had his full back bombing past him all night ....

If last night goes down as an improvement, i can only feel sorry for those who have watched what went before. I wasn't impressed by us last night but then I didn't think Wigan were up to much either. That was my main reason for disappointment - I really felt we could have got something with a bit more ambition.

A mixture of odd selection and absent players.

Loan system

We've already got 4 loans, doesn't give us much scope for more in January when you're only allowed 5 in your match day squad - if we're not careful we'll end up like we did the tail end of last season. It would be nice if we could sign Ingram or grimes permanently in January which would free up a couple of loans!

Can't believe the ref bottled this. As clear a penalty as you're ever likely to see.

I see the Wigan's manager made some complementary comments about us post-game. Must admit, I much prefer it when opposition managers give us no credit as that usually coincides with us taking points off their teams. I can remember in our promotion season this was a regular occurrence.

I think our current squad doesn't have enough in it to hurt teams away from home. I just hope we can pick up enough points at home before the transfer windows reopens.

Thought Northampton played well actually...they were extremely well drilled and had a good shape with a high pressing game.

Also thought we missed Powell while several of ours had off days

Take the 3 and move on.

Why do some supporters always say they don't want to see a player in a shirt again? Look you ain't the manager mate!
If he was, surely it would go along the lines of...'I'm not going to see that player ever again in a Cobblers shirt'!

You might as well address the 'You ain't the manager mate' stance to three quarters of the posts on here. Think about it!

The ref last night is in his first year on the League list, I think he'll go far, he's already sussed that you don't give any decisions to a team away to the favourites to win the League no mater how blatant they are.
But I did think that he was one of the better refs we've had this season, apart from bottling THE real big decision.

The ref had a sense of humour. When their 22 laid Kasim out, the guy in front of me was chirping at the ref "22 ref, 22...". "We know you can hear us ref". "Give us a sign ref...."

The ref gave a half turn, a wry smile and a wink.

Quite funny...

He had a proper 90s wedge haircut though....

The more I see the replay the more furious I get - there was no foul by Revell and rarely have I seen a more obvious handball.
