Cobblers striker Joe Iaciofano has been sent out on loan to Chesham United for a month, the club has announced.

Personally from what I have seen I think he should be on the bench for us, not out on loan at some semi-professional team. It's bizarre that despite all our problems with scoring so far this season, we still have two strikers completely unused in league fixtures.

Are they any higher up the league mountain than Corby Town?

I cannot understand the club's loan policy unless there's a rule stating that loans must be to clubs 5 or more tiers lower.  Bluntly the likes of Corby and Chesham are little better than UCL standard and I can't really understand what the likes of Lobjoit, Iaciofano and Goff are going to learn down in the depths of non-league football other than getting game time.

The fact we have let both young forwards go out on loan suggests to me thjat we are close to bringing someone in

I completely agree- I would rather that Goff and Iaciofano play with the youth team rather than these semi-professional clubs. The standard of football is probably higher in the youth team than it is down in the seventh/eighth/ninth tier! Plus, if we need Goff or Iaciofano, they can easily be called back up to the senior squad from the youth team, rather than having to faff about with loan contracts and suchlike.

Is this the Rickie Lambert rumour popping up again? There can't be very many free agents available at the level we need. It is only a one-month loan though, if we had a striker injury crisis, Iaciofano would be back at the club soon.

They are playing proper mens football at that level, that isn't the case in the Youth team.

JFH has clearly seen they are not currently up to it, so sending them out to get experience is the right thing to do. If they prove themselves they will get in the team eventually if not they'll fall by the wayside.

Matt Crooks and others had a few loan spells earlier in their career, didn't do him/them any harm.

They are both on ONE months loan, it's not for the remainder of the season.
Better to keep them ticking over than wasting time sitting on the bench if they are not going to be used now.
Or is JFH sending them out for a new pre-season before putting them into the first team?

Well at least one of you is talking sense.  This is how you bring players up to speed.  It's no different to Premier league clubs loaning out their young unproven players to clubs in league 1 / 2

I'd say it's unlikely as he's reportedly signing for crystal palace

it's because we don't have a reserve team and these players need to be having competitive game time - isn't rocket science.

by your theory, we should send them out on loan to teams at the top of the premier league to have no game time but somehow learn more.

Who knows how much Joe would progress with the fans behind him at Sixfields and our decent surface? Everyone wrote Hanley off despite him not being given a chance.

It is good news but not too surprising, that standard is too easy for him.

Absolute joke he's been let go on loan.

That's not what I was questioning, my point was about loaning out to 5 tiers lower down.  By my reckoning that's the same tier as was the case with his loan to Corby.  Prem clubs tend to loan out their players gradually upping the division with each loan.

Ivan Toney was only ever given a chance out of sheer desperation from Wilder because Sinclair was absolutely beyond useless.
He ended up saving us from relegation and moving to Newcastle .
The point is , these young lads need someone to give them an opportunity otherwise you never know .
I agree , playing at that low level is next to a waste of time .

I get the loans are only one month but you would have thought you would have kept one in the squad..... Rico and Revel are done they will be lucky to get 15 goals between them all season..

You can only loan someone to a level that is willing to take him.
