I don't recall  Dave Mackay, Billy Bremner, Norman Hunter, Chopper Harris , Tommy Smith etc missing a load of games through injury, perhaps todays players although physically fitter cannot cope with with the rigours of the modern game.
A certain Philip Neal , of this parish, went 9 YEARS without missing a game for Liverpool, 365 consecutive appearances. Proper Wollaston School product, nobody messed with us  Tongue Grin

Brady confirmed that Danny Hylton is currently fit and it has been a selection decision to leave him out of recent matchday squads. The Town boss says he has no issue with Hylton commentating on Luton Town games at the same time the Cobblers are playing.

Absolute p1ss take imo...

Wtf are we actually paying him for then!?

Maybe that's the deal. You can commentate but we are not paying you. Might have had a media and/or coaching clause in his contract

I must admit I did send an email to both Jake (RN) and James (Chron) and at least the question was asked by James at the press conference. It is not club policy for players to travel to away matches, they are free to do what they want, hence Hylton commentating on Luton.

Shows how cr*p he is if he can't even make the bench...no offence to our current subs.

He may get a chance this weekend if we're without Bowie and Springett.

Little chance at all that Kieron Bowie will be in the squad for the game against Derby County this Saturday.
Irony that it could have been the Cobblers not Derby pushing for a postponement, given Bowie and Springett called up by their respective countries. Think it needs to be three call ups though.
Still, Hoskins should be back...we're not the same without him!  Wink

Wow. That's impressive.
I blame the sports scientists, they've somehow managed to redefine what classes as an injury and got everyone to believe them.

Bowie's game is on the Thursday and if selected may only get  some 'minutes'. If the game is in Scotland and I think it is he may well be available for this Saturday! We might need him!

Its at St Mirren, so should be easy to get an early morning train down south from Glasgow. Or fly although it would probably be via Dublin, or something equally stupid.

Danny has made 6 starts and 24 10min cameos as a sub, at a reported 3k a week.
So if we bundle all the minutes together and divide by 90, Danny has played approximately 9 games for us at a cost of £34,600 per game.  Tongue

Diplomatic and professional comments on Hylton by JB, wouldn't expect anything else in an interview.
Hylton has clearly cooked his goose. So he is definitely fit but can't get near the bench. I think that tells us all we need to know.

If Hylton has been on about £35k a game and Rashford is on around £350k a game, have we seen good comparative VFM?  Tongue

Modern sports scientists don't treat injuries any better than the days of lore... it's the rehab excuses that they bring to the table!  Wink

Just looked back at our 1986-87 Graham Carr promotion season and we only used 19 players for the 46 league games and 2 of those only played 1 game each. We had 11 players who played a minimum of 34 games:-  Russell Wilcox 34, Eddie McGoldrick 35, Graham Reed 36, Trevor Morley 37, Phil Chard 39, Warren Donald 41, Richard Hill 45, Dave Gilbert 45, Keith McPherson 46, Ian Benjamin 46 and Peter Gleasure 46. That is an astounding contrast to this season.

You find that with successful teams, people want to play, will pay through the pain barrier and may not even report slight knocks. Whereas when you have nothing to play for, players will use any old excuse to get out of a trip to Carlisle or wherever. Can't be much fun playing in a relegation threatened team.

They are all modern, it wasn't a thing until about 1980. Since then they've multiplied their numbers like rabbits.

I don't think playing through the pain barrier with slight knocks compares to the number of hamstring injuries we have had this season plus several players having to be monitored with ongoing injury issues.
