Bert Llewellyn is the one I remember. Injured in his first game at The White City, he never played another league game for us. Because he was sidelined, Dave Bowen went out and brought in Frank Large, so some good came out of it.
Yes, but things are not so black & white these days!  Wink

Very true Coolcat, apparently only black lives matter, no chance of "the black & white minstrels" in this day and age, golliwogs are not allowed etc etc etc.

In 2009, golliwogs were on open sale at Sandringham.

Nelson out for the season...which means he'll probably never play for us again...

How often does that happen to us, a new signing playing a couple of games then having a serious injury? I can only think of Purcell atm, Nicholls came back but was never the same and we at least saw his potential.

Two I can think of, from around the same time;

Darren Wood
Kevin Wilkin

Joe Nuttall, but to be fair, he was already injured when we signed him!

Doug Hodgson. Pretty sure that he damaged his neck, and it turned out that he wasnt insured. If anybody knows other wise, I am happy to be corrected.

It seems unimaginable in this day and age, but a Wycombe fan reported one of his fellow idiots for calling a black steward such at Oxford, last Saturday!

Talking of injuries the Ross Kemp/Micah Richards podcast is worth a listen. His insurance didn't pay up following his retirement through injury, down to being 'wear and tear'. I think he is doing OK though so doesn't need a whip round. I can imagine he paid a lot into that pot.

Martin Singleton. I think he had a nasty knee injury shortly after signing for us also.

Done it away at Grimsby in a 2-2 draw just as he scored. Culpin the other scorer.
Not sure why I remember that.

Who the heck is Sid Dennis and where did we sign him from?

https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/sport/football/no-fresh-injury-worries-for-cobblers-ahead-of-salford-city-trip-3392243

Also an update on Revan.....who joined us injured and totally unfit, but its ok because he was "the best of what was left"..... a glowing endorsement there if ever there was one!!

Hope am wrong on Revan but the Chron article appears to ‘slightly’ contradict your message above?

The whole Revan signing is shambles, good job we’ve learnt our lessons from the Nuttall saga.
Typical Thomas and his data driven committee, bluff, blunder and bûlls*** in spades with no substance.

It’s the committee they thought they were buying Sid Nelson but got Sid Dennis instead.
