This is all a bit unnecessary, isn't it? In the photo they used announcing his signing he looked quite feminine. As others have said, in other photos he doesn't. I don't think commenting about that makes them a bigot.
If it does we might as well all give up commenting on here now!
you're right, it is unnecessary. I've also heard that the club have blocked people on twitter for saying the same thing. If people want to continue to make themselves look small minded, then thats fine, but they shouldn't complain when someone tells them they shouldn't have said it.

Who are you to tell people what they should, or should not say? No forum rules were breached after all. Only one person is making themself look small minded.

Blimey liven up. The picture posted looked very feminine. What it matters I’m not certain, but certainly seems to have hit a nerve. As long as they qualify to play for the men’s team and are up to the standard required it’s a win win.

Seriously mate, I've no idea what you are on about. No one has said anything remotely homophobic, transphobic, bigoted or in any way insulting. They've just said that he looked quite feminine in the photo. There's nothing wrong in that (either in saying it or in looking feminine!) I think everyone is actually just saying that it's an odd photo of the guy. He's in good company because there are plenty of unflattering photos of me out there, believe me! Do we really need an "I'm Spartacus" moment for everyone who did a double take and thought "have they used the right photo there?" when they saw the announcement? If we do then "I'm Boot and Shoe", because I know I did!

Take more than the resident Woke to affect me. It would be for the best, if we all moved on from this?

I’ve been trying to find more out about Norman but there’s not a lot out there. It looks like he was captain a few times for his team in Canada but I’ve no idea what the standard is like. My biggest concern is that he is a left sided centre back and so is Guthrie so one of them is going to have to play out of position. I’m just praying that McGowan will be fit for Saturday.
As someone who is quite familiar with what David Norman looks like, even I did a double-take at that photo. Norman's father (also David Norman) was in Canada's 1986 World Cup squad and played every minute of all three matches. There were fairly high hopes for Norman in Vancouver where his father played much of his career. He was never able to make a breakthrough in Vancouver and didn't show a lot on a few loan spells. Miami signed him, which seemed like a vote of confidence for his potential -- and then he couldn't get anywhere near the team. He's 6-foot-2 and was a holding midfielder. He was a smart player and was decent on the ball (and being left-footed never hurts), but I was never sold on his quickness or athleticism in the midfield. In Olympic qualifying, he ended up dropping into the backline after injuries and a suspension gutted Canada in the back and put in a decent shift. From there Cavalry signed him to be a central defender. I think playing as a central defender suits Norman much better, but he is still relatively new to the position. He has only had two seasons with Cavalry and has probably spend as much time as a defensive midfielder or a left back in the Canadian Premier League as he has as a central defender. There have been Canadian Premier League players who have been great in the league, transferred and done poorly abroad. And there have been CPL players with much lower expectations who have done quite well. I think Norman has the potential to be a pretty sound central defender, but I have no idea if he will live up to that promise.

Thanks, that's interesting to know. Fingers crossed he does well for us and doesn't fail foul of our injury curse!

I'd like to say he played for Queen of the South, but I better be careful!

Very interesting. Sounds like it’s a longer term plan rather than throwing him straight into the side (which is what we need!).

Yes a long term plan to the end of the season, why are we giving out these long contracts to unknown players?.

Thanks for that - very informative. Let’s hope he does as well as our last Canadian (unless I’ve missed one) - Carlo Corazzin!

I watched a few games from the Canadian Premier League on BT a few months ago and I would say the standard was very poor - although some of that may be down to the low attendances and the rather ordinary stadiums - mind you ours is nothing to write home about. I must have watched Calvary I suppose but I don't remember David Norman. However as he is now a Cobbler he will get my full support so welcome David.

i didn't suggest that at all. There was no need to say you thought it was a signing for the women's team. that was all. the fact you got annoyed at me calling you out, and that you thought I was calling you homophobic, suggests that maybe in someway you knew what you were saying was not ok. just think a little (and wonder if there is any need to say it) before you comment, thats all.
Wrong on every assumption . And i have thought about it and i would say the same harmless thing again . It seems you are on your own on this one - thank goodness for the sanity of the universe . Anyway , i hope our new man smashes it for the club …. oh no i said “man” when he maybe identifies as a non binary squirrel and i have upset someone again ….
