I don't think playing through the pain barrier with slight knocks compares to the number of hamstring injuries we have had this season plus several players having to be monitored with ongoing injury issues.
I understand but the plain fact of the matter is that these injuries just weren't so prevalent back in the day, for whatever reason.

Managers like Bowen and Wilder* are rare to come by! Whether we like it or not Jon Brady is the only recent Manager who can possibly follow in their* footstops!
We should stick with him, as at the moment he is our only hope of survival as a EFL Club!

I think it has to be that players are fitter and more highly tuned athletes these days. The game is also played at a far, far higher pace, we lots of twists, turns and changes in direction. Back in the day you had players on the booze and smoking. Take a look at the centre backs, even in our Carr season, where Richard Hill jogs past them as though they are running in treacle at a snails pace. The best analogy is probably comparing a simple old car, verses a modern one that has far more that goes wrong. If they had the technology back then to measure distances, sprints and impacts, I bet it is a very different game. That is why it is very difficult to compare a great like George Best to someone like Messi. As said before, it certainly isn't because of an increase in crunching high impact tackling!

I think it was George Graham at Spurs was reportedly unhappy with injuries plus attitude when he took over. Split physio sessions to first thing and last thing often on same day for maximum inconvenience to injured players on travelling in and getting stuck at peak traffic times and or waiting about between treatments.

Funny you should say that. I'm often left feeling watching football on TV these days that's there is actually far less goalmouth action, unless you count the keeper to the full back, then to the centre-half, then back to the keeper, then to the defensive midfielder, then to the full back, then back to the keeper who hoofs it upfield. That was 5 minutes of excitement there.

That some condemnation of the present government. (14 years) Anyway, back on topic, how many of these sick notes are contracted for next season?

Given that player's fitness levels are higher these days and they are not to be found in the Flamingo Club on Friday nights it is surprising that there not more hamstring injuries, thigh strains etc back then.

I have been watching a bit of the Scotland U21 game, and Bowie looks quite lively so far, playing on the right hand side of a front three. He hasnt scored, but its 3-0 to the sweaties at HT.

Their Seasons Prior to Signing for us: (the figure in brackets is appearances and/or in the match squad which means that although 'fit', they didn't get on the field of play) Tyler Magloire - 20/21 (29), 21/22 (27) Aaron McGowan - 19/20 (29), 20/21 (41) Jack Sowerby - 18/19 (45), 19/20 (34) Sam Sherring - 20/21 (45), 21/22 (37) Ben Fox - 20/21 (23), 21/22 (38) Danny Hylton - 20/21 (31), 21/22 (31) Ali Koiki - 20/21 (19) Shaun McWilliams - One of our own Akin Odimayo - 20/21 (37), 21/22 (53)
They all played a significant amount of games in the season(s) prior to joining us and most of these have since played a full season for us prior to their latest injuries. It's very difficult to forecast when players will have their major injury setbacks, or niggly little ones, that have the potential to 'end their careers'. Most footballers have at least one during their careers'.
These figures were taken from Transfermarkt...

Good luck Danny in your future roles. Whilst you never scored as many goals as you’d have liked in your Northampton career it can never be said that you were not totally committed to the cause and never gave less than 10% when on the pitch. Good luck for the future.
