Because I'm a geek and I hate myself I thought I'd look up our record when Richards & Revell start games together. The record reads;
Played 14, won 1, drew 4, lost 9, for 12, against 34.
In these games they've scored 7 between them. Richards 4, Revell 3.
This season alone is played 3, lost 3, for 2, against 14 with a goal for each of them.
Not pretty!

Its hard to be negative towards Richards. He has only been a bit part player this year. This is really the only time he has been playing poorly for us in his two spells with us, at a time when he is 34 now? If he had three behind him with a bit of pace and skill, they could just put it on a plate for him to score. But now he is playing as a lone striker who is just expected to hold it up. With regards to your point about the partnership, I dont understand it, and I'm sure it will never happen again after today.

Watching JFH's post match interview, I half-expected him to have a coughing fit and the letters on the wall behind him to start dropping off. Not to mention someone appearing with a P45.

A striker need either pace or strength Marc has neither now...... but he has a finish
Revel has a bit of both but no finish
Also a striker is someone who scores GOALS.....
so neither can now be called strikers

Completely agree. Rico hasn't been given a real chance this season. He's started three league games, one of which he scored in, and the others in which he was put up front with the useless Alex Revell. Rico has been our top scorer for the last three seasons. Put him up front on his own with pace in behind (McWilliams, Waters, Hoskins and Hanley can all provide that) and he WILL score goals for us. Revell is a complete lost cause and a liability to the team. In January, there is only one option for Revell: SELL, SELL SELL! And if we can't sell, we should cut our losses and cancel the last six months of his contract. On his wage bill, we could probably roll the dice on a couple of other strikers come the next transfer window.

But how many of them were against harder teams in the top half of the table based on the final table of the 2017-18 season? Those are the FACTS I’m interested in.

They just don't work. Rico is the better finisher but without Revs energy and legs. We need someone like that Gaffney. He beat Buchs with a 5 yard head start in the first half. We are just so one dimensional with no pace.

Revell had a purple patch early last season, but since October 16 he has scored 4 goals in 39 appearances.
In the same period Richards has made 51 appearances.... (Revell was out for a long time with an injury) and has scored 14 goals.

Do you know how that translates to minutes per goal Grange? I'm guessing Richards 51 appearances include a large number from off the bench.

I'm guessing they do too...makes the evidence against Revell even more damning!!

Quite. Particularly poor today even taking into account being played out of position. Stonewall penalty for me, and from where I was sat the ref probably also got the red card right.

I agree. Ref got both decisions spot on.

Correct......in fact credit where credits due, I thought the ref had a good game all round.....as did his linesmen who flagged correctly (if a little late at times) throughout.

I’m surprised the scoring record is that good actually ! Do managers not look at previous DVDs and see for themselves what happened previously . Not a single supporter would choose that pairing in the entire ground

I'm sorry but his finish seems to have gone too, it's not like him and revell have not had any decent chances created over the last few weeks

The one on one he had says it all . He didn’t even try to take the ball on and shoot . Just bottled it

Exactly, we are not creating stacks of chances so the clear cut ones we are creating they need to be taking and he nor revell even look like taking anything

Obviously you get a different view, depending on where you sit, but where I sit, just above the tunnel, everyone thought both decisions were harsh on us. Also the 5th goal, the linesman on the west side was yards behind play when the ball went down the wing. Didn't affect the result though

Spot on. Rico has been a natural goal scorer for all his career and even now play the right way and I'm confident he will continue to score. Remember Man City a few years ago with shaun goater, 'feed the goat and he will score'.
