I wish you were right but I fear not. There was a moment in the first half where Bowditch put Rico in space on the edge of Rovers penalty area but he simply did not have the pace to get past the defence and ended up scuffing his shot badly.  That for me summed up where we are up front.  Rico has been a great servant of the club but this season is one contract too many. It's rather like some misguided supporters thinking Bayo can come back and do a job. The stuff of dreams.

Revell was the featured player on the front page of the programme yesterday so that will explain his disastrous day. Very often the featured player doesn't even play, for whatever reason.

On another note, why were they watering the pitch at half time when it was raining?

Rico has a career of scoring and finishing, Revs doesn't.

If I never see Revs in a Cobblers shirt again I'll be happy. Yes he works hard but at what cost? He's just a donkey with a head who ends up seriously out of position due to running after the ball like an excited puppy.

Rico may be seriously off form but I'd pick him over Revs (if it was a choice) any day. Clutching at straws now but the offside goal Rico scored showed he can finish, I wouldn't expect Revs to even get a shot away.

I agree. Ref got both decisions spot on.

Not totally convinced he did. When he blew for pen it was not immediately clear. They never appealed and for a few seconds bit confused.
As for red card , again none of their players appealed. Even Chron not sure on validity of penalty.

Looking at the highlights I think the penalty decision was correct.

I don't think the red card was, it wasn't an elbow and Revs eyes are clearly on the ball.

A yellow, yes. Red, no.

That said, a three game ban means surely we must try someone else up front?

watching live I thought pen and red card and having watched the youtube highlights I think both decision are correct based on the way the game is played now.

However the official law states...

•Careless is when a player shows a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or acts without precaution. No disciplinary sanction is needed
•Reckless is when a player acts with disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, an opponent and must be cautioned
•Using excessive force is when a player exceeds the necessary use of force and endangers the safety of an opponent and must be sent off

Maybe more reckless than excessive though

Was comfortably one of the most obvious penalties I've seen live. Like much of our defending, it seemingly happened in slow motion and was so blatant.

I was directly in line with it. He went through the players legs. Was no where near the ball. Classic case of a striker defending in his own penalty box.

So was I - just puzzled by their reaction no appeal and some confusion.

Watching JFH's post match interview, I half-expected him to have a coughing fit and the letters on the wall behind him to start dropping off.
Not to mention someone appearing with a P45.

From the TV, it looked like he dallied on his clearance, then went to hoof it by which time the Rovers player had got between him and the ball so he hoofed him.

Yep that was exactly my take on it Live. I sit directly in line with it in the North, I couldn't believe that there were a few people near me going apoplectic with rage at the decision given the view we had. One even banged on for five minutes about how it should have been our free kick.

As for this thread, it wasn't meant to direct blame at either of them individually, it was more about them both playing. I'm a bit of a statto and probably place too much importance on stats but surely managers must look at records like that and see that it bad for the team playing them both.
