If that is the team playing for their Cobblers future,
looks like they all want away asap

Really?

Today looked more like a side low on confidence, determined to be solid, if a bit limited going forward.

I thought they looked like a side lacking a leader. We need a Clarke Carlisle type pro to lead by example.
By the way, if The Saints had a scout there today, they would have been well impressed with Grimes' kicks to touch.

Have waited for a couple of hours to gather some thoughts. But for me, there's clearly not been enough background research done on the players we have signed.

Without wanting to constantly harp back to Wilder and Knill, they did just as much research on a player's character as they did into their ability.

Clearly the recruitment has been woefully lacking in that department since those two left, whether it's now down to the managers or Melville, I don't know. What I do know is that we have effectively been left with a group of shrinking violets.

Unless we take the lead, which with our scoring record at the moment is highly unlikely, we just don't stand a chance.

With the exception of Buchanan, and possibly Ash Taylor and McWilliams, there's absolutely no leaders, characters or grafters out there. Hardly anyone geeing others up when the going gets tough, dropped heads all around the place, nobody taking the game by the scruff of the neck to inspire their teammates.

I don't like to say this, but I think it's already too late. I think we're going to have too much to do by January. I sincerely hope I'm eating these words in a couple of month's time.

I share Fez's thoughts exactly, unfortunately.  I don't think it helps when our Chairman is not at home matches to see what we are all viewing on the pitch. He has missed the last 2 games at Sixfields.  I would echo Fez's comments and just say to the Chairman one word - RECRUITMENT.

Absolutely spot on - the last 2 posts say it all.

Was thinking along the same lines as Fez. The last 2 managers have been governed by one constant factor.    Andy Melville, the so called head of recruitment. He is either finding unbelievable crap players, or he does find good ones but cant persuade the Manager to sign them, either way it looks like failure  on his part. KT seems to swear by him, but im yet to be convinced.

Hmm where is the chairman exactly...
Who is the chairman?
Is it still KT?
Does he still attend games?
Is it the money man David bower?
Is he anything to do with the club or has he resigned?
Will the Chinese investors ever visit sixfields again after last week?
Who exactly are they?
Where has their investment actually come from?
What are their plans for the club?
Are they actually going to masks any comment whatsoever?
We want answers 2 ??

Amen. Many of the players signed have been touted to play at a much higher level. Guess we’re finding out first hand why they didn’t make it? Got the ability apparently, but not got the mental fortitude it seems? If you are going to make it you need to tick all the boxes. No room for one trick show ponies in this game.

The real trouble is, from the soundbites we're hearing there appears to be a sense of denial within the club.

With Jimmy saying he was 'very' happy with the performance, and other player comments such as “this is a great squad, they are a great bunch of lads, and we are confident results will turn for us", just demonstrates that their mindset is completely wrong for the fight to come.  As soon as you start believing you're too good to go down - guess what...

The team/club spirit is currently the polar opposite of that shown when we were fighting for our existence two seasons ago - and it shows in the league table. Where's that doggedness gone?

I think what is said for the benefit of the public might be different to what is said on the training ground.
