Seven games without a win, six games without a goal and coming off the back of two of the worst home performances of the Sixfields era, the Cobblers go again on Tuesday against Rochdale.

Marc Richards will miss out on this one with a thigh strain but is expected to return for Saturday's away game at Gillingham. Alex Revell is suspended. Aaron Phillips and Leon Barnett are injured.

Cobblers currently have 2 wins in 21- Rochdale would be a good place to start a better run of form!

They'll be licking their lips at the prospect of us coming all the way up to them for a game.

Can't see us winning this at all, or at Gillingham.

Have an appointment with tooth extractor at NGH. Which is worse? Anyway good luck to those who go - true supporters! Also good luck to the team and JFH. Confound your critics JFH !

I wonder how many real men we have in our side ?
How many of those players are mentally strong and have the character to battle through and force a result .
You wouldn’t know this unless you are in the dressing room , but it’s a time for picking men that will fight and scrap.
Problem is , I think we have very few of those players and we are heading one way only as the worst team in the league right now

In my opinion our strongest team right now is:

Ingram

Moloney Taylor Pierre Buchanan

Poole O'Toole

Crooks McWilliams Smith

Long

Given Crooks & O'Toole aren't likely to be fit for tomorrow then play Hoskins & Grimes.

I think that's just how football is now, people/players are not fighting for a living as much these days, nobody loves the club enough to run through brick walls for us.

It's just the way football has become unfortunately.

I think in the lower leagues it still can be like that because it’s predominantly British players .
Buchanan is obviously that sort of player for example

Yeah fair enough, there will be the odd exception (Buchanan) but I think leaders lack throughout football at all levels these days.

Might go to this but really will have to motivate myself.

The Wigan game didn't exactly boost my confidence that I'll see any kind of performance that to make the trip worthwhile.

I feel really sorry for anyone who has a season ticket and goes to away games too. I'll bet you've not really seen one decent 90 minutes all season....

For me:

                  Ingram

   Moloney Taylor Pierre Buchs

            Poole McWilliams

      Hoskins  Grimes  Smith or Hanley

             Waters or Long

Smith and Hanley have done okay in their games on the wing, same as Poole in the centre of midfield. JJOT cannot be ready yet, but we may need another cameo from him.

I would swap Waters for Long if Long is fit.

O'TOOLE POOLE

POWELL HOSKINS WATERS

LONG (Rico if fit)

Usual keeper and back 4, picks itself at the moment.

Then Id go with Poole and McWilliams sitting in front of them without the ball, McWilliams making the runs forward when we have possession.

Up top, its got to be Long (if fit) or Rico.

Id have McGugan in the number 10 role, he's got to play. He's the one player we have whom if we can get him properly going could see us through until January with his creativity.

Finally Id have Taylor and Hoskins flanking the central striker.

The two shirkers from plastic land wouldn't make it onto the bus, let alone the 18.

You like having Taylor on the wing don't you?  Grin

I think you mean Smith.

Why do people want to persist with this winger formation, when we clearly haven't got any?

Horses for courses, play a formation that suits the players in our squad, until we get to January and possibly can change it at that point.

4 (Moloney, Taylor, Pierre, Buchanan) 1 (Poole) 2 (McWilliams, Grimes) 1 (McGugan) 2 (Hoskins, Long). With Ingram in goal.

Simple. We are not creating anything from the wings in any case, so be more solid in the midfield areas with pace up front and creativity behind.

Bench - Cornell, Smith, Foley, JJOT, Rico, Bowditch, Waters

Hate predicting but can sense something with my Doris Stokes like powers...
Rochdale 0 Northampton Town 3.

Then a 2-2 at Gills and the Polyfilla is in full effect!
