according to the manager, it was grimes.

and there were a few candidates better, namely those who don't always miss.
As soon as the pen was given, Grimes picked up the ball but JJOT took it off him.

I think Long would have been the obvious choice had he still be on the pitch. But, alas, he had been substituted.

Absolutely don't blame JJOT for taking it.

O'Toole wouldn't have been my choice to take it, and it was a pretty poor penalty by the looks of it.

However I think it would be very unfair to throw him under the bus for missing it. The best players in the world still miss penalties.

No Rocking Horse $heit - why is there always one!

Agreed but kind of begs the question why you deem the penalty miss as irrelevant.....,

It’s no coincidence the most committed players on the pitch scored the goals and another won the penalty .
It’s all about desire to win .
Having said that JJOT should not have taken the penalty . He hardly ever puts his foot through the ball and most of his goals are from close range .

It's easy in hindsight to say he shouldn't have taken it, but what if he'd scored or what if Grimes had missed?

Also , JJOT was the regular penalty taker at Bristol Rovers in the season when he scored 15 goals. However, he's never scored for us - missing both times in shoot outs last season.

Att: 2138 (Cobbs fans not confirmed...)
By the noise from the highlights, it sounded like 122...but I could be wrong!

It’s not hindsight actually TP , I’ve always said it .
John Jo is a great player but I don’t think he connects with the ball well generally

Funny that as would have sworn on my mothers grave that he had scored a few goals with his boot(s).

It's one of them. Henderson hit a near identical penalty, and the ball was played straight back into his path. O'Toole's rebound unfortunately just evaded him.

As usual , you over react and over simplify .
JJOT is a very good player and scored goals but most are from close range.
All I am saying is that he is not the best striker of a ball towards goal , having seen him many many times .

Having seen the goals conceded, I think we need to be a little more streetwise sometimes and perhaps make tactical fouls as we look so stretched for both the goals. I notice a lot of other teams are much better than doing this than we are. I know he's been booked twice in his short cameos but I think we need that bit of aggression shown by JJOT across the rest of the team.

Very poor defending by Buchanan on that first goal .
They was a simple head away all day long but he turned his back on the ball .
