Nobody wanted a fight.........Buchs was down at this corner when the final whistle blew, he applauded the fans, most were walking out in silence, a few were clapping and a few were shouting/swearing/sticking two fingers up. Buchanan clocked this, turned away but then looked back twice before changing direction and coming into the lower West to have a chat with those remonstrating. Handshakes were made and that's all there was too it!

Back to back away games probably couldn't come at a better time.
Have to feel luck will change, Hoskins (I think it was) couldn't connect from 2 yards yesterday.
Perhaps because the ball went behind him. Although we were poor again yesterday that moment was also an indication of the dire luck we've been having.

Quite a clever tweet from buchs then, another completely abject team performance but we will talk about how out of order this fan was rather than his / the teams performance / shortcomings.

Buchanan has been a club legend and no one can doubt his commitment over his time with us. However the crux of the matter is all apparent if reading the above statement again.

It actually went through his legs. The kind of poor luck you get when you're loitering in the relegation zone.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard his commitment called into question but effort alone can’t mask shortcomings in quality. Whether I’m being tired or just a bit slow I’m not sure what reading the post again achieves?

Ok I get you, I wasn’t sure if my criticism of him was the problem you were referring to.

I see that Buchsgate has gone national - it’s up on the front page of the bbc sport website that “Cobblers fans wanted to fight me”. It seems to me that he’s been quite clever in using this to deflect away the pressure on the team and create a siege mentality - by all accounts it was only one moron and even he sounds like a teenager who’d probably had too much to drink. The way it’s being reported is that there was almost a riot!

Really bad timing, just when something good happens on the pitch, no need, move on.

If it creates a siege mentality and results turn around then great! Since this "fight" incident we are unbeaten.

BBC have run the story now http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41665320Northampton Town captain David Buchanan claims a group of fans challenged him to a fight after their League One game on Saturday.
The defender, 31, says he was threatened after the 1-0 home defeat by AFC Wimbledon which left the Cobblers next to bottom of the table.
They have lost nine of their 14 league games and only have nine points.
"They were young lads, 17, 18 years old. I don't want altercations with supporters," he told the BBC.
Speaking to BBC Radio Northampton, he added: "Every time I set foot on the football pitch, I give my best for the team, and I clap supporters because I appreciate everything they do, they pay their hard-earned money.
"Whether I'm here, or somewhere else, they're still going to be Northampton fans but after the game a group of lads tried to offer me out for a fight. I said to them 'grow up a little bit, we're in this together'.
"'Remember where the club was two or three years ago and look what's happened, keep believing in what we're doing and stick together, and we'll move forward together'."
Northampton had to win their final two games of the 2013-14 season to avoid relegation from the Football League and were served with a winding-up petition from HM Revenue and Customs in October 2015 before being taken over by former Oxford chairman Kelvin Thomas the following month and winning the League Two title that season.
A Chinese firm bought a 60% stake in the club this summer, but manager Justin Edinburgh was sacked after their poor start to the season, with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink brought in as his replacement.
"Some of the performances have been unacceptable if I'm being honest," added Buchanan, who was speaking following Tuesday's 2-2 draw at Rochdale, in which he scored the goal that earned them a point.
"But this football club's been in worse positions than where we are now and we've come out on top so it's important that everybody in the club, the staff, the players, the supporters, all stick together."

And he scored
Maybe he's making a big deal out of nothing to get it into the public domain to help manufacture a move away in January, perhaps? Next we'll have Revell Powell and Bowditch wanting a return to MK.

Years ago someone would slip on their arse and brush them selves off and carry on, then we got to a place where people would brush them selves off and then think "could be a couple of grand in that if I make a fuss" I think we have got to the same place with being insulted, stuff that was previously laughed off is now triggering people to think "hang on , I could be a victim here and get some attention". I'm not defending genuine homophobia or racism, just the snowflake bulls*** where something is made out of nothing for attention.

Suggesting that Buchannan is trying to publicise this incident for his own ends is disgraceful. The BBC report is almost word for word from part of the interview by Tim Oglethorpe after the Rochdale game and is taken completely out of context as Buchannan clearly only mentions the incident because Oglethorpe asks him about it. Suggesting he claims they wanted to fight him suggests Buchannan started whingeing about the incident, but in fact Oglethorpe's question is whether some fans wanted to fight and he simply said "yes". That is a very different slant on the matter. If you watch the interview on the website you'll see how twisted the idea of Buchs trying to benefit in any way from the incident is. He is a great club man who wants the club and fans to stick together and should be applauded and respected for his passion for the club. If only we had 10 more like him.
