Right, I went to Uni in Northampton 2001, quit and worked in the town until 2004. The main reason I left was the lack of direction from the council, no investment or monies towards culture. Since leaving I've become very interested in politics and looking back, Northampton has been Tory for a long time. I found most people-friendly, I got a job in security and worked in Brackmills for 20 months, living in Kingsthorpe. But I found the local mentality as really suffocating, no ambition, and most of the schools in the town were poor. A lot of people are born and raised there. It was always strange as an outsider, coming from the south-west to a town with good sports, industry but totally lacking any identity.
Ive just looked at google maps of northampton, and it seems a lot of development is happening, are they students flats?
Obviously, this is not a positive post..but I still enjoyed my time there, I was just frustrated at the lack of ambition, considering Northampton historic significance in the past.
