Was this meant to be a rhetorical question, or, have I done the wrong thing by replying?

Either side of the debate, you might want to see this painting that has recently emerged. Warning: Once seen, never forgotten! I wonder if it made it past bonfire night?

Are you still following the Brexit drama? I mean, who isn't... Do you think it'll happen?

Who else thinks the the Union big wigs back in Brussels are making this as hard as possible for the sole reason of deterring other countries from following suit? I reckon old Theresa should save the money on air fairs and start planning a no deal strategy because this was only going one way from the start. Fcuking time wasters.

To encourage les autres in effect, yes, but as they hold the best hand it makes sense.

Brexit is the biggest fraud ever.

Theresa May "I'm delivering what the people voted for, to leave the EU'

Did the people vote to leave with a bad deal? No! and the person negotiating the deal should be a brexiteer because a remainer could purposely go for a bad deal to stop it happening or teach people a lesson for voting against her.

Call a referendum - we'll win... They lost.
Call an election - we'll win seats... They lost seats.
Have a parliament vote - we'll win... They lost.

A total shambles.

I voted to leave, I was impressed with the extra money for the NHS - but it was a lie.

If I list an item for sale and tell lies about it - I'm commuting fraud.

So both remain and leave told lies in their campaigns - it's a fraud.

Now lets do the sensible thing, have a new referendum and regulate it so both Remain campaign and Leave campaign are only allowed to tell the truth and must back up all their promises.

Voters will then know what they are voting for, as simple as that!

Lets face it we ain't got bugger all to show for the past 2 years so another 2 ent going to hurt.

What!!! Politicians lying, well fúck me that's a new one. Maybe they told lies to counteract the huge porkies that Ted Heath told the country to get them to vote to join.

Maybe so, but many of the voters were not around back then.

This is serious stuff, regardless of political parties the public should be told the truth and know the true pros and cons of leaving or staying in the EU.

I'm sorry, but anyone with two braincells should have been able to see through the búllshít that came from BoJo and his mates.
I think one of the main problems is that the remainers didn't fight their corner hard enough. What BoJo, Gove and Farage were saying hit the the headlines big time whereas there were some little squeaks from the remainers. It's almost as if the remainers were so sure of winning that they didn't see the need to campaign.

I think this is a rather naive take on things.

I rather like the analogy I heard a while back; say you go into a travel agent and are offered a dirt cheap holiday to a resort you've never heard of. They show you photos of beautiful, tranquil beaches and describe it as a lovely, relaxing place so you take their hand off and book a trip for you and your whole family. You go rushing home, excited to tell everyone, look it up on Google and find that this resort is actually in one of the ISIS controlled areas of Somalia.

Once you realise you've been sold something on the back of a bunch of lies and half truths, do you:

a) press ahead with the holiday regardless because you said you'd go now
Or
b) reevaluate your decision and take issue with the travel agent?

Granted, this doesn't hold true for everyone who voted Leave, but a significant amount of people who voted Leave were heavily swayed by the now widely debunked propaganda spewed out by the Leave campaign. Now the facts are known and the realities of leaving the EU have become clear, isn't it only sensible to say "OK, does everyone still want to do this?" If they do then so be it, but doesn't it make sense to at least ask the question?

Couldn’t you make the same hindsight argument for any vote including the general election BOTN? Everyone had their opportunity to present their case. Does it not devalue democracy in so much that it allows the opportunity to repeatedly hold a referendum until you obtain the answer you want? A bit like the SNP try and enforce? What if there is a remain vote and the same issues that caused the leave vote in the first place once again become a major point of contention? Have yet another leave or remain vote? After all, if you are giving the remain lobbyists a second bite at the cherry, wouldn’t it be democratically appropriate to allow the leave lobby another crack in the event the original vote was overturned? TBF it’s actually a good idea, just thought I would table an amendment.

Well fúck me sideways and call me Shirley. Politicians lied!!! Surey not. If people were too stupid to do a simple bit of research before they voted in the most important referendum the UK has ever had then shame on them.

To have another vote would completely subvert the course of democracy in the country and make the UK a laughing stock.

Like it or not the result must stand and if democracy was truly followed the UK would not be a member of the EU today.

No deal Brexit is a dissaster and not just for the UK, Europe will suffer too. I do hope that there is another stay of execution.

Fair point, Melly, however for me the difference is that for most elections you vote for something that has a fixed term and you will automatically get a chance to change your mind when that term expires. Brexit will shape what happens to our country for the next couple of generations at least. We have to be certain that it is still what people want because I think the lay of the land has changed quite a bit in the last three years.
