We’ve got some big players and yet neither Jed nor Jfh has got much out of them....Jimmy has managed 5 wins in 19 games, we’ve failed to score in 10 of those 19! We’ve had a couple of good performances but also some shockers.....
There is no consistency, the players have shown on occasion that they can do it! It’s not like we have a s*** team/squad, they’re just not performing.

I don’t know what people are expecting in January....a couple of freebies, a loan or two? Or are we seriously thinking we’re going to spend a million on a couple of wingers and a striker?

We must have one of the largest squads in the league already, finding the right 11 from 35 isn’t easy!!

Anyone else not convinced about the reason JFH gave for taking Pierre off ?

Someone on Twitter is suggesting James Hanson in January - I’ve no idea if there is any basis to that and I know beggars can’t be choosers but shouldn’t we be looking at strikers with pace? Having said that if he was to come in as well as a couple of decent wingers they might provide the service he would need.

I suppose it depends if he persists with one up front .
I think he needs to change that now because Long is getting nowhere on his own .
Who played behind the striker tonight ?

Had car and hotel booked. Love going down to Plymouth...Barbican, Mutley (The Fortescue), Devonport.
With Slowey's predictions...gonna cancel!

2-0 win (-211 Cobbs)

See ya in the Dolphin for 4.30pm!  Wink
So it was 2-0 with 208 not 211!

I am the new Manson...or Doris Stokes!

Sidenote;
We were utter s***e...not made better with the inclusion of Rico, Bowditch...or s***e oranger shirts!
Ar labu nakti from Plymouth!

His finishing infront of an open goal combined with doing little else answers that one!

Rubbish performance tonight follows an even more rubbish 2nd half on Saturday.  Worrying to say the least and JFH is clearly struggling.

I think if you stand back and look at the side you have to say of the back 5 only Ingram & Taylor performing consistently at L1 level.  Midfield is unbalanced with too few ball winners being played. Reliance on Powell coming good week in week out seems optimistic given his reported lack of confidence.  Up front Hoskins & Waters are both L2 players, Long is not really doing it and Rico & Revell are well past their best.

Summary - squad not good enough to stay in L1.  We will see in January what the Chinese are planning for this club, if anything.
Spot on! Rico (again) did absolutely zilch when he came on, as did lightweight Bowditch! Crooks got himself all over the pitch but shockingly over hit balls time and time again.
The just wide of the post glance in the 89th min the only shot close to a goal!

To quote Ian Dury..."What a waste" that was. Think I.d look to get rid of about 10 players in Jan, see ow good the Dutchman is in the transfer market, coz beyond the keeper, Taylor, (possibly) Buchanan, JJOT and Grimes, I.ve seen sod all from any of them. It,s no good saying they,re good enough but not performing. All the proof is that they,re NOT good enough. And for F$$$s sake play 442, or try to get Alan Shearer out of retirement coz the boy up front literally is like a lost soul wandering about.

Let's see what the JFH brand can attract in January. Not convinced by him at all and will be very surprised if the tinkerman is still here next season.

I keep reading about our "quality midfield" but I see precious little sign of it functioning as a unit on a regular basis.  Little flashes of skill from McCugan and Crooks are simply not enough.  From what I have seen of him McWilliams should be starting games together with a fit JJOT. If Powell continues to improve he earns his place if only for the pace he brings to the side.  The remaining places in midfield and "in the hole" are something of a lucky dip given the other players' inconsistency.

Crooks really doesn’t help himself with his body language - I get it that he is a laid back cool dude but when he and the team aren’t performing it’s a stick to beat him with.

I agree , as I said earlier in the thread , too many big time players are only part performing .
It’s no good playing in flashes and that includes players that have been here for some time .
Of the new players , only Taylor , Grimes and Ingram have performed consistently .
Playing Long up front on his own is a complete joke . It simply doesn’t work , and I defy anyone to tell me one game where it’s been successful . Even at Oxford we were not clicking up front , it came from midfield dominance .

It's simple. We need some players who can get in killer crosses, then a couple of pacey strikers to convert the chances. If that sounds expensive then bear in mind it's nowhere near as expensive as dropping back to League 2. Hasselbaink may as well get fit, register, and play himself upfront if he won't take a chance on our young strikers who are out on loan.

Really disappointing performance last night made slightly more bearable for a few pints of ale in Ivybridge before the match.

It was a very sluggish start and I wonder if spending 4 and half hours travelling down in the morning of the match was great preparation for the team.

For their first goal it looked like a soft free kick but the ball was in the air long enough for Ingram to at least come and punch. I missed the free kick which lead to the second goal and disappointing to concede another free kick because that was the only way Plymouth would have scored. However they were very good value for their win and probably won't get an easier 3 points as that this season.

Plenty to think about and Saturday's game is now crucial

As others have said it was reall,y really disapointing.

As good as we were at Oxford, this was bad, bad, bad!!!

The quick high press - evapourated to nothing

The fast passing and breaking changed to slow lathegic side to sidepassing but going nowhere. It's so easy to defend against us as we are so narrow all the time.

The biggest thing that had gone was confidence, effort, commitment and 100% being given by all, you could see it at Oxford, had gone - this is the major worry for me.

It's all well and good saying we will bring players in come jan, but they might take tiome to settle and it maybe like having a new team again.

Saturday is massive for me now!

You are right , it’s no good relying on January .
We have a lot of highly paid players here now who need to perform better.
Of course we need more balance but the likes of Crooks and Pierre need to earn their crust

Bring back Iaciofano and Lobjoit.

We can't score goals, Joey is scoring them in abundance.

I don't care that they are at a lower level, they should be given a chance to show what they can do as the strikers we have don't seem capable of hitting the net.

I don't think anyone will get on the back of a homegrown talent, people around me are very accommodating of young Shaun McWilliams and constantly offer encouragement even when things are not going his way.

Lobjoit is a bit of a gamble, but one thing he does have is pace. Would at least give us some striking options until January.

Agreed..........but I fear they'll stay where they are, we'll bumble on till January and then sign a couple of loanees meaning that our two's chance will be gone for the season.
