Following the Saturday 2nd half, woeful performance, and then following onto last nights car crash of a game....All I will say is that if Bury can beat Shrewsbury 1 - 0 as they did last night - we ain't got a prayer on current form.  Sad

That must have been a really hard game for Bury then last night. As we are in the relegation zone, its a nailed on easy away win by more than 1.

Impossible to predict this one.

Some concern we are getting Bury at the wrong time.

Need 4 teams worse than us, but struggling to find 1 team atm...

Last two game crying out for young Shaun in the absence of JJOT, but the kids not had a look in...Long ain't a target man and needs support

With the lack of wide players (thanks to JEDS wanky recruitment) we are so restricted...Kasim & Bowditch on 2 year deals ffs!!!

This has been obvious since JFH came it, yet our recruitment team have been unable to land out of contract winger(s) to get us through to Jan.

Even Hanley looked OK out wide at MK and what has happened to Smith?

Waters is being ruined out wide - he's proved he can score (granted at L2 level)

I'd bring back both young Joe & Leon back...if only to give us a bit of the "unknown excitement"

Fans would be more patient with them...remember when McWilliams gave the ball away with his first touch v Fleetwood? No one got on his back and he learnt from it massively.

I don't have any answers but am already fearing the inevitable...

Interesting to learn that Bury caretaker manager Lowe is nicknamed "Tinkerman" - I think somehow JFH has to pick a "team" performing like a team. We cannot afford both Crooks and McCugan in the team at the moment. Without Revell we have to play Richards or Waters with Long. We need a midfield with some ball winners in JJOT , Poole and McWilliams in it. Powell will have to provide the outlet. If Bury can make wholesale changes for their game last night and win there is no reason why we can't a gamble. Nothing wrong with Tinkering provided it achieves a more effective team. I am no expert so some of my suggestions maybe unacceptable to many on here.

One thing after each defeat the doomsday boys take the opportunity to "say we are sh!te" - it might be better to follow Bury home support last night and give unstinting vocal home support! To me it is pointless in posting derogatory comments on the team like that above,it achieves nothing. They might as well stay away from Sixfields and keep such comments to themselves.

Maybe we could go 4-4-2 and put McGugan up front with Long?

                  Ingram

   Moloney Barnett Ash Buchs

Crooks McWilliams Grimes Powell

            McGugan Long

Or maybe even Waters upfront with Long. Or me. I scored a nasty left footed poke underneath the keeper at five-a-side last night, so must be in with a shout.

It seems we'll be without JJOT and Hoskins again at the weekend, both would be in my team if fit. Therefore this is the team I would select

                                                Ingram

Moloney                Taylor                           Pierre (if fit) or Barnett               Buchanan

Waters                             McWilliams                    Grimes                            Powell

Long                         Revell (if fit) or Richards

Subs - Cornell, Barnett/McGivern, Bowditch, Foley, McGugan, Poole, Crooks.

We can't keep having luxury midfield players in our team, harsh on McGugan and Crooks but where do we fit them all in? A team is made up of lots of things and players with ability don't always make good team players. Chris Long is in desperate need of some help up front and I would choose Revell ahead of Rico, if fit, which is doubtful.

I think the overall support (maybe not in attended numbers) have been remarkably resilient. We've always had our share of "get it forward" and "get him off" merchants. When you look back to the shock of the home hammering and previous/subsequent bore fests, I think JFH has got a lot of good will by the nature of who he is. Many a manager would have been getting some serious grief by now. Plus he seems to carry the luxury of not having 'his' squad, despite a lot of people declaring how many players of quality we have. That can still being carried by JED. The most worrying thing was the alleged best 11 playing on Saturday. It feels like a case of damage limitation until he gets the opportunity to pull a rabbit out of the hat with the clubs chequebook in January. No one can seriously be convinced that he is right man to keep us up and ultimately push us on, although the only certainty being any alternative would be cheaper! He clearly earns a lot of respect from his past playing ability but clearly a long way to go as a manager/coach.
I think we've seen more of the QPR Jimmy than the Burton one at the moment but holding onto another turn of form and a productive transfer window.

I've known of Joe and his family (who own and run GianBiaz on Welly Rd) since he was a nipper. He is now a committed, confident and robust character. I struggle to see what we've got to lose to get him on the bench for a run out. The fans love a local lad and convinced after the previous toothless displays would welcome his addition with open arms. He may be an Ivan Toney and grab a few, or he may show how far off he is. I know he'll continue to follow his footballing dream though and I'm sure it wouldn't destroy him.
We're a currently very sterile league 1 Cobblers, not Man Utd and he has proven that he knows where the net is. I struggle to see what there is to lose, he's a pro footballer, not a fragile snotty nosed kid.

Regarding current situation we have all been here before; the games v Daggers and then Oxford. And the season before that! At the moment
we are not in an entirely desperate situation, but the current situation is not good. If our confidence has gone ; how about the players let alone JFH! I just hope we can just about keep in touch with those above, at least up to Jan and then hope for the best! Am not looking fwd to Bury now!

Long needs support, I think he'd play well with a bigger man along side him. So, who do you suggest?

Cripes, Bury have appointed a new manager today so that probably makes our task a little more tricky. They will be wanting to impress and of course they have just beaten Shrews. This will not be easy, but we need a positive result. There's a two week break from League action after Satdee, lose and we could be bottom, but a win could take us up 3 or 4 places. It's a big game.

Without boring you with statistics, the new manager bounce has been shown to be a myth. Beating the Shrews is much more of a worry, anyone that takes notice of form knows that the last game is highly significant. You are only as good as your last game and all that.

After the Oxford game I anticipated/hoped for decent results against  Sk*nthorpe; so much for the last league game!

I guess it lasted for one half and then ran out of steam. Oxford went on to beat Plymouth 4-0 away.

On Saturday , McGugan , Crooks and Pierre need to step up .
We haven’t seen any of them perform to their reputation yet .
Let’s hope Powell is fit because we have to use his pace .
McWilliams or Poole need to play the holding role .
Long needs support and we have to play to feet .
If these things happen , we have a chance .
