We laughed when smith was named mom by sponsors kg Smith, must be a family connection somewhere cos he was poor. I'm sorry to say it but both great servants to the club Maloney and buchs are perhaps not cut out for this level anymore. Maloney is slower and doesn't get half the crosses he used to and Buchs gets beat more and more down the flank. Cannot fault their passion or desire , but they need replacing in my opinion. they are part of a defence that has been one of the worst weve had recently
Thought that Moloney played 👍

Well...Jack Bridge doesn't seem like an inspiring signing and a statement of our intent. Maybe that's why we haven't announced it yet. If, as it says in the article, he won't be able to play Saturday I guess the club may take the view there is no point in announcing for now and they will delay it as a foot note to one or two more inspiring signings.
I realise I am reaching here!
As for the player himself, I've completely given up trying to judge whether a signing is a positive one or not after the last couple of windows. Let's hope he turns out to be a gem! Seems like Dean Austin is very keen on him having coached him last season, it is probable we would have signed him whatever our position.
All of the above is assuming it is a done deal of course

I don’t get the comment about being refused permission to play against his former club on three accounts : 1 . He has signed for us , so just get on with it . 2. He wasn’t good enough for Southend and so you would think Brown would fancy his chances if he was in our team 3 . He played JJOT against us when he was only on loan . He wouldn’t play anyway because we have far too many midfielders as it is !

Either a) there would be a gentlemen's agreement that we wont play him, b) he isn't fit enough to play anyway or c) Phil Brown is just flapping his gums as usual

If that shows our intent, we are F'@@ked
My partner is a Shrews fan and he said Southend were really poor - if this lad can't make their first team, I'm not convinced...

why risk budget on a player who cant break through at southend ? brown has given him chances and even the supporters say he didnt take any of the chances he had what are chances that hes a hidden gem who will break into our team and make a difference? really ! , who does he replace ? i dont think this signing if it happens will go down well at all

As said on the Shrimpers forum, he's no longer an up an coming youth prospect he's twenty two. If he was going to be any good surely he would have made some mark at Southend by now. Look at what Shaun McW has achieved here in a squad already overladen with midfielders.

Had trial at Bournemouth in January 2017, so they must have seen something in him.

yes im even less convinced now , JFH has said we need no central midfielders , so think this guy would be a wide player who is not known to have any pace or play well great ..... not the time to roll the dice and gamble when we have funds available and were in deep do do

Right now we are in a relagtion battle and we are looking to sign more unproven players... The recuritment has been shambolic on the last 24 months.
Planning for league 2 nice one. KT 👍

I assume that this guy is a replacement for McGugan, who hasnt signed a new contract to stay with us yet. McGugan must have had interest from higher placed teams

Based on what I’ve read his agent got him the trial at Bournemouth which didn’t come to anything and it p**sed Brown off so much that he froze him out.
