Sorry, have I missed where it's said that the Chinese investment will take us to the next level? Genuine question.
It was a quote from KT when the Chinese took over

Just to add he didn’t say I have sold the majority shareholding to some Chinese investors who will not be making any comment to the supporters for the rest of the year.
Also the new investment will see us able to compete at a non league level whilst the redevelopment on the east stand will be subject to more delays with no clear plan for the future and a smoke and mirrors mentality.

I think that the problem is that people’s expectations (mine included I’m not afraid to admit) have been raised to an unrealistic extent due to KT saying that the Chinese were making funds available for the window and then other people hinting that they have heard that considerable money was in place. In reality it looks like this money may be in place for “high calibre” loanees and possibly paying off some of the bloated squad that we have - I hope we are placing cash bids for quality players/strikers but it seems to be unlikely.

Play a game of higher and lower on wages alone to see if you think funds have been made available since the investment…

Adam Smith - Matt Ingram
Neal Eardley - George Smith
Zander Diamond - Ash Taylor
Gabriel Zakuani - Leon Barnett
Lewin Nyatanga - Aaron Pierre
Paul Anderson - Regan Poole
Hiram Boateng - Matt Crooks
Keshi Anderson - Lewis McGugan
Matty Taylor – Matt Grimes
Jak McCourt – Yaser Kasim
Harry Beautyman - Daniel Powell
Emmanuel Sonupe – Sam Foley
Gregg Wylde – Dean Bowditch
Luke Williams – Billy Waters
Michael Smith - Chris Long
+
Ryan McGivern
Luke Coddington

Now that’s settled maybe more of the blame should be focused towards the performance of the scouts and players?

Bang on. We've (guess) got a top 10 budget, probably losing a lot of money. I've been told that the Chinese know it will cost a wage budget of 13 million to compete in the championship. We haven't seen any *huge investment as of yet, but Id argue that they have put a fair chunk of cash in since their arrival as well as the initial purchase of the club!

I wasn’t disputing that the Chinese have obviously made funds available since they took over - I was referring to this January window.

This is a great signing for Bury, only just turned 30 and knows league 1 very well.  Based on his career stats, if he starts all of the remaining games for Bury he should net 6-7 goals and be credited for around the same in assists. Nice loan deal, real shame we couldn't have got him in.  I suppose being up north suited him.  :-(

They made some great signings at the start of the season too and that didn't go well either

Where's he going to play then. In front of Maloney or instead of him. (Or somewhere else no ones thought about, like centre mid)?

I want that speed as far up the pitch as possible, get him on the right wing. The good news is that unlike other youtube clips of the likes of Gorre, this is him doing things in the championship, not u23 football etc. Looks to be one of the quickest players we will have ever seen.

Shame about Mcgugan I think he underplayed when he was here and then out of position half the time. Mcgivern ranks up there with the James Hirsts and Henok Mukendis as most pointless signings of all time.

So, 5 loans within the squad now (max allowed for any matchday squad I believe)

Do you think any will go back? Otherwise any other signings will need to be perm...to avoid any of the current loans to miss out & cost the club their wage...

We always seem to end up in this type of situation...

Anyway, at last an exciting signing to re-ignite the claret flame!

I know nothing about the Mcgugan situation, however if he's not transitioning elsewhere/demanding a big wage or his positions being filled, then we've paid him to get fit. I'm ominous about the amount of central midfielders we've acquired, but I thought his assist against Portsmouth showed his potential quality and maybe he'd link up well with the likes of this new boy. Playing devils advocate as he seems to lack the work rate we need. Maybe he can get a look in at Burton if he still lives in Notts.
