The signings so far, if you include the Southend lad ,  have contradicted JFH’s statement on Monday , which said he wanted experienced players to come in .
KT has said that he prefers players that are young and can be developed - not surprisingly so that they can no doubt be sold on .
We can only assume there are more players to come in.
Noticeably no one has immediately gone out the door to another club yet ....
 Surprise surprise !

Why do we need to pay for a player from Manchester City? Its like someone from Kings Heath buying something from the yard sale of the Spencers at Althorp House. Just give us him for free, tight bastards.
You are quite right there. Maybe we played an undisclosed fee to his agent only.

I suspect it maybe the Southend lad?
Wikipedia say he's a midfielder, so that wouldn't fit if it's another full-back coming in.

The fee was tiny and based on appearances  Tongue
KT and JFH have had a least 2 months to sort out targets the signings so far lack what we desperately need a STRIKER.
From what I have been told we have no where near the budget to spend that JFH was promised.

No one I would say, you may get JJ in the "advanced" role again to hoof the ball up to.

This may be a simplistic view but...
One up front at home...
No wonder so many nils
No wonder so little entertainment

You can blind me with scientific formations and various nonsense but teams who have a pair of strikers up front score more goals than those with one up front.

As a club our problem is that we are trying to reinvent the wheel
4x4x2 is what’s needed.
A competent experienced goalie
Two tall aerial winning centre half’s.
Two tough tackling full backs who don’t bomb forward all the while.
A ball winning centre mid who patrols the centre circle
A centre mid who has legs can go box to box and play a through ball
Two wingers who can beat a man and put a cross in,only tracking back if necessary
A target man striker who can chip in 10/12 goals mainly threatening from set pieces.
A 15/20 goal main striker who has a touch of class

It’s frankly ludicrous that we have a 30 man squad and can’t even fulfill the simple blueprint above
We are still trying to buy in the quality to fulfill this.

This is down to crass mismanagement from previous managers all overseen by kelvin thomas(a self professed football man)
If that’s so why have we assembled a massive squad of players but have no quality in attacking areas?
KT
Get a bloody grip and if you are actually in the country is it too much to ask that we can put a decent 4x4x2 side on the pitch tomorrow??

Poncing around with one up front at home when we are in a relegation scrap my arse!!
Get a decent 4x4x2 team on the park that tries and the fans may get behind them.
At the moment fans turn up not only not knowing whose playing but what formation we’ll play or who will play where in it !!

We aren’t good enough to piss about with fancy formations but I do believe we can cobble a decent enough four four two with a couple more attacking signings
Get the round pegs in round holes, the fans will get behind the team and the results will come.

Rant over.

We played 1 up top for most of the 15/16 title winning season. Including at home.

There is a lot of merit in what you say. Going back to basics, playing direct, being solid and putting the opposition under sustained pressure may well be the best way to go in our current predicament - IF we have the players to play this way.

However the bit below is simply not true anymore

....teams who have a pair of strikers up front score more goals than those with one up front.

playing 1 up front isn't the defensive move it was 20 or 30 years ago when 4-4-2 was pretty much the only formation. Teams left a striker out in favour of a midfielder or defender against bigger sides to try and nick something (parking the bus they call it these days).

A lot depends on how you provide support to the 1 up front, something we have been pretty poor at so far this season.

None of the other clubs in League One have got all of the attributes that you have listed Shoey...

Football has moved on but without players able to score goals our struggle will continue.  The need for at least one ideally two strikers has been crystal clear for months (in fact, ever since Rico had his first achilles operation) and I would have thought the first signing this month would be one such player.  After all KT was telling us players are lined up, funds available etc. and so you would think that a striker would be amongst them.  There is still plenty of time left this month but games go by and it gets that much harder.
