From what I’ve seen he’s not good enough, we should aim higher. Wouldn’t mind him as a back up, as he’s far from a bad player, but I think there are better option out there.

Certainly, one of the contributors has made a comparative comment about one of our strikers following a rumour being touted about our signing of another striker. Another contributor has then questioned the validity of that opinion in the belief that the original contributor may have not seen the said striker play. The other contributor retorted that he had indeed seen the said striker play on I believe New Years Day (also I believe implying on other occasions as well) validating the original comment referencing the comparison of the said striker with the rumoured addition to the squad. Therefore there is apparently a suggestion by certain contributors that the opinion of any contributor on this thread particularly around rumoured replacements for existing players carries more credibility if the contributor has actually attended games. This opinion seems to be endorsed by the footballing profession in general who seemingly nearly always attend matches rather than watch players on television before investing in them. So in summary this sub topic has “to do” with the ability of contributors to comment on comparative assessments between current players and rumoured replacements if they have not attended matches. Er, I think, but hope this helps. |

Reports suggest that the fee for Ricky is around £400k - which seems a bit on the low side given Sheffield Utd have shelled out 3/4 of a million on 2 other league one players in the last week and neither are as good as Holmes - so if we've got the 20% sell on clause that some are saying that comes to about £80k.
