Interesting pecking order selections on Saturday , indicating who may or may not be on their way . Revell above Rico . Turnbull over Buchanan. Buchanan above Smith . Crooks and Grimes in the middle again with McWilliams sub . Hoskins and Foley preferred wide to the lads on the bench . Maybe this is the settled side we move forward with .
yep - rico and buchanan / smith to be moved on................along with all the deadwood.........Kasim / Bowditch think that is all this tells you.

Rico and Buchs are both surplus. Captain and Vice Captain, perhaps no longer the right kind of influence? Be interesting to see if Rico sees out his contract and retires or looks for a final swan song in L2/Conf. I though Smith was injured? Imagine 1st choice 11 if everyone is fit will be: O'Donnell Facey New LB Turnbull Taylor Crooks Grimes O'Toole Powell Periera/Foley depending on opposition Long (or new ST)

George Smith is injured. I also think he will be kept above DB. Younger, quicker, Taller, more potential for a return if sold.

i think JFH is trying to offload the deadwood and the bad eggs from the squad.
there are probably too many players with the wrong kind of influence still at the club.

Just need to look at the January calendar to see what players are going. 1 down, 2 to go.....

Revell above Rico - agreed Turnbull over Buchanan - agreed Buchanan above Smith - buchs has been ahead of smith most of the season Crooks and Grimes in the middle again with McWilliams sub - not sure this tells us anything about who may be leaving?? Hoskins and Foley preferred wide to the lads on the bench - this is probably due to the fact that Powell is coming back from injury, and Berto is not match fit. Don't think it tells us anything about players leaving or preferred players for this position.

Yes but everyone without exception thought Revell was surplus up until last week . I would say all of Revell , Rico , Buchanan , Kasim , Bowditch and Coddington are available should someone come in for them , but he would only want one of the forwards to leave and only let Buchs go if there was a replacement available quickly .

The likes of Lobjoit, Coddington, Bowditch and Kasim are barely 7 months in to two year contracts and must be on good money, especially the latter two.
Struggling to see how anyone will come in and take them from us in this window.
With only 6 months left, Hanley must be ripe for a "mutually agreed" contract termination.

I thought that but if a L2 club comes in and takes any of them on a free transfer (which would suit both clubs) then I can see it happening. Similar to Matt Taylor.

Bowditch is technically a decent player and Im sure has something to offer a team in league2. I suspect we would have to cut our losses though and pay a sizeable chunk of his wages to get him out of the door!
As for Kasim. Again, massive potential. That cannot be denied. He's clearly got ability, but he isn't what we need. Id be surprised if another club doesn't take him though...

Bowditch and Foley are tricky ones, both very good footballers......but what is their best position?

I personally wouldn't describe Bowditch as a very good footballer.

Fair enough, all about opinions.

Ref Bowditch…nail on head. Gord knows. He's a 'bitty player'. Id say as a deep laying forward, but you've got to have the right players already at the club to slot him in. Which isn't the case with most players. You buy Facey, you drop him it at right back as an example! Thats the case with most players. I reckon with Foley its wide right, in a Beckham type role. You've then got to have a decent winger on the left though to get the right overall balance. It kind of high lights how little amount of thought was put into the summer recruitment!

True that. Don't get me wrong, he can play, think he just lacks anything to make him stand out. As in doesn't have great pace, doesn't have awesome finishing, not going to create loads. He's just alright at numerous things IMO

Hope Rico comes back to the Club, to coach, after he finishes playing.

He's been great in this latest spell with us, really great. It's the right time for him to move on though I think. His legs have pretty much gone, that said, he'll get goals in L2 with the right service.
