Premiership money is mad enough for that to be true.
Coming from Everton on the back of a decent championship season. I would have guessed between £8-12K. Especially for a million transfer fee.

i would have said the lower end of that amount, at the very highest.

To get him on a permanent would be a real state of intention and the most impressive signing of all... but for that kind of money, not sure it'll happen. He's a young very promising striker who is starting to look the real deal now and I reckon he will become one of those elusive 20+ a season men, certainly at L1 level, and possibly Championship.

What with people posting the need for two strikers (which I think is excessive and unrealistic) one who can get in behind and one in the target man mould, I think we could do a lot worse than making a bid for Newport County's Frank Nouble.
He's quick, very strong, likes to be physical and get in defenders faces (as evidenced against us in pre-season when he played very well), and is a good technical player too. I doubt he's on a long contract there and wouldn't cost a bomb. Thoughts?

More bookings than goals this season! As somebody has mentioned before, I don't think he fits the current transfer ethos; buy young players with potential.

Sometimes we have no transfer action until deadline day with this board full of speculation, unfounded rumours and moans about the lack of business: Relatively quiet isn't it? I prefer this method...

Don't get your reply. What are your thoughts on the player, rather than me?

I've a hunch that it will be pretty quiet now until 31st, then we'll get the brinkmanship of players/agents & clubs holding out on deals.

Have heard van Veen from Scunny mentioned a few times now (on here and through talking to other Cobblers fans). I believe he's out of contract in the summer so it could be a similar situation to what happened with Bunney:
1. He signs a new deal with Scunny 2. He sees out his contract and moves somewhere else for free in there summer 3. Scunny sell him to cash in if he doesn't sign a new contract
I suspect if it's option 3 then it won't happen until the end of next week but if it is i think it's worth waiting for.

JFH has stated on the Chron website that we wont be signing long in this transfers window. Although they are try everything they can to sign him when is contact runs out in the summer. Still looking for a striker and another loan signing

Found this from Burnley's site;
28 July 2015
Burnley Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Chris Long from Barclays Premier League side Everton for an undisclosed fee, subject to paperwork.
The striker, who spent time on loan at Brentford last season, has penned a three-year deal at Turf Moor, with a further year’s option in the club’s favour.
If Burnley want to keep him they can extend his contract by a further year so we will more than likely have to try negotiate with them: which could cost us X amount even in July.

Would have thought his salary would be the sticking point; particularly if he scores goals. If he scores a lot then the Championship Clubs come visiting. Not impossible tho'.

I think we can discount the possibility of Long signing permanently in January. Besides, even if he did, it wouldn't change our playing squad for the rest of the season.
I surmise that Revell probably has a club lined up and ready to go upon the completion of the deal for one of the strikers that we will be in talks with right now. My bet is still on Doidge of FGR joining.

The reason Chris Long won’t sign in January is that Burnley will be subsidising his wages and have to do so until the end of the season . He will not want to give up that money for division one pay too easily . Having said that JFH has brought him along in leaps and bounds and so it’s possible he will want that to continue and then get a move thereafter . I think he is playing at the right level for his current ability though

I’m not sure where the van veen link has come from other than him being out of contract in the summer - it doesn’t look very likely as he’s currently having a run as first choice ahead of Toney and Novak at Scunnie. As for Doidge that would be unbelievable but very unlikely..

Unlikely or not, and suitable or not if the current board have serious ambition they have to fund a striker with a goal scoring record at this level. If the player doesn’t want to come for whatever reason then that’s another thing but they need to be in the market. Wouldn’t be totally popular but Billy Sharp has been on the bench at Sheff United and I don’t think Wilder will take him to the Prem and turns 32 next week? If we were spending serious money that’s where I’d put it.

To keep up the 'signing a player every 3 days' this month we should expect two in before Saturday.
