I think that’s the crux of the situation, we have found an effective way of playing which involves Long as a lone striker with jjot supporting him - both of them are in great form and scoring goals. As such trying to persuade prospective strikers to join us (especially on loan) when they are unlikely to be starting must be a difficult sell. It’s a similar scenario to the one that pereira finds himself in - he’s unlucky that since he’s come in we’ve dramatically picked up our form and the structure that we have in place (foley and Hoskins in wide areas) is working. Having said that I would be very surprised if pereira doesn’t replace Hoskins this Saturday.
I think Ariyibi is more likely to step in at the moment. Love Hilda but he just doesnt look fit enough to start

I think Jimmy likes Hoskins because he's got much greater defensive discipline compared to Ariyibi and Hildeberto, and is probably more willing to do the hard yards in his own half.

I wonder if Jimmy will have issues with trusting Berto after he went walkabout a bit in closing stages against MK Dons.
We have a bit of a weird paradox at the moment where we are starting with the solid players and bringing the more exciting variants on later, good if you are chasing a game but not great to protect one - although extra pace can help with that.
I'd love to see jimmy let both of Berto and Ariybi start against Rochdale, can always sure things up later with Foley/Hoskins or pushing Bunney up and Turnbull across.

i think JFH tends to favour the defensive option over the attacking one - just get that vibe from his selections - he would rather set out to not concede rather than to outscore the opposition

I agree, I'd just hoped he was changing that stance when he signed the two wingers on loan. As I said I'd love to see them both start but I definitely think at least one of them should start each game. In my opinion a lot of our problems over the past 18 months have been due to a lack of pace and threat in attacking areas meaning that teams could push right up against us without fear and we had no out ball. Berto and Ariybi should change that. Anyway, back to transfers. Have we signed anyone yet? Anyone saying goodbye and clearing out their lockers?

JFH has stated 'we should have FOUR strikers on the books and at present we have two'.
Does that translate that he will play TWO strikers from the start, as having 3 strikers on the bench seems a waste?

I'd imagine, if we did end up with four strikers, that one would drop out of the first choice matchday squad. Likely Revell

Is it definitely a signing and not a departure?

Says "Cobbler Signing News", so presume it is an incoming.

There's no way this guy was one of our top targets. Hope he hits the ground running and links up well with Long. Welcome Boris.

Disappointing as we have Icao in the wings. Hass did mention there will be some further activity before the deadline.

Saido Berahino had never played a league game when he came to us either

Wasn't top of our targets?
He's only been training with the club for the last 3 or 4 weeks!

Does two games for Metz count? Surely having another option/cover is better than not having one at all?
